I have heard this too…but my local (Orlando) Fox affiliate is quite often to the right of all the other local stations’ coverage, and it’s not a Sinclair-owned station. It’s usually subtle, but I’ve seen them lead off their broadcasts with Stories of Grave Concern to RWNJs enough times that I long ago abandoned it as my go-to source for local news, even though it was always nice that their nightly broadcasts started a full half hour before the other guys.’
Also, they routinely roll tape from FBC and FNC slapdicks when covering “national” stories to the point that you might never know they’re not a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fox News Channel. Ad breaks also regularly feature promos for FNC, FBC, Fox Nation (whatever tf that is) and even encourages people to tune in to Tucker, Hannity and Ingraham’ Three Hours of Hate. (I’ve bitched about this in the NFL Gameday threads before.)
So yeah, they may be separate but, at least down here in Desantistan, you wouldn’t know it by watching.
I watched like half of an MLB game on the local Fox station a few days ago and every ad break there was a promo for Clint Eastwood: American Outlaw on Fox Nation (?) so I guess you can watch a bunch of his movies there now, Patriot.
This is not a ‘big loss’ for DeSantis. This stuff is performative virtue-signaling. The courts blocking his terrible measures that will result in bad things is really a win-win for him.

Local news is right wing nonsense not only because of Sinclair type evil owners, but also because scaring the shit out of old people has been their model since like the 1960s.
I think local FOX news varies from market to market. I think some stations have their own news departments, but others, like the one in the West Palm Beach Florida market farm out their newscasts to another local station. The NBC affiliate produces the FOX local newscast here (for a price). Basically they use the same local news content but with FOX graphics.
This is just performative art, right? What’s these guys end game? What’s the goal in NOT having supporters vaccinated if you yourself believe in and took the vaccine?

There’s no strategy apart from mashing conservative grievance buttons over and over again. But that strategy is vastly outperforming Democrat “strategy” if you can call it that.
These guys are riding the tiger. MAGA country has gone full anti-vaxx and people like Rand are just riding the wave of idiocy even if their supporters start to die off.

I don’t know about you folks but my ability to suppress my thoughts of “I hope all these antivaxxers get a severe case of covid” is getting harder and harder. Didn’t think I’d turn into a person wishing ill will on people but I think I’ve had it.
Would like it to start with all of the most vocal antivaxxers and maybe it can jus stop there and that will be enough to convince the rest of them. We got a good start on a few radio show hosts…
Their strategy is that anything the left is for they must be against. That includes public health initiatives and vaccines. They simply cannot acknowledge any common ground at any time.
When is some reporter going to start asking these C**** if they feel responsible for people dying. It must be trivially easy to actually pin some actual deaths to people believing this nonsense they are spewing.
