question of the day - why do we say things are “sub-par” when they are inferior, but a sub-par score on the golf course is incredibly good?
Because in golf, a below average score is good.
sub-par - this doesn’t mean below par? as in, sub-par would be a good score in golf?
when we say something is sub par we mean the opposite of good. thoroughly confused now.
Most of the time being below average is bad. Hence, subpar has a negative connotation. However, in golf it’s good to score below average.
but the average score in golf is well above bogey. i guess i see what they’re getting at.
It is funny that in golf, par, what is considered to be “average,” is unattainable by 99% of the golfers who have ever played the game.
Golf is like having a lot of sex but only coming three times a year.
I’d argue it’s more like only getting your partner off a few times a year, and most of the time hearing her shriek and yell, “That does NOT go there!” as you scratch your head and wonder what the fuck went wrong.
Won’t the relegated golfers just quit instead of playing on whatever lol LIV 2 tour they invent?
They should’ve just bought a football club with the hundreds of millions (billions maybe?) they’re gonna burn on this.
you guys probably dont follow my blog but looks like my season’s over. just got the news they finally found a donor for my knee reconstruction. probably should try to squeeze one final round in this weekend… it’s like 6 weeks recovery, he says, but I’m skeptical I’ll be able to golf for at least several months
Another sunny personality added to the LIV Golf roster.
Another has-been who hasn’t won anything in forever grabbing money they couldn’t possibly earn on their own in 2022.
As far as I can tell, LIV’s entertainment strategy appears to be to lock down under contract all the surly golfers who appear to have the least amount of fun while playing, and then have Charles, Gary, and David make fun of them?
I posted a few weeks ago about never having shot in the 60s. Tonight I played the front 9 twice for the league I play in. The front 9 is the much harder of the 2 nines on my home course. I shot 33, 34, despite bogeying the easiest hole both times. One of these days I’ll get it for real. I’ve been throwing darts with my irons all year.
I say it counts
Congrats, that is quite outrageous. A little twilight 67, no big deal!
Pretty sure 2 of the same 9s count as a round in GHIN? So, ship it?
So now New Jersey is sacred 9/11 ground, too, apparently.
wow, grats, not to one up you, but recently i shot a 68
on a par 59
golf nits would say no, the same types of players that say aces don’t count if no one witnessed it.
