Yeah, almost half of that 1992 top 20 are better than every single song in the 1991 top 20 except for Motownphilly.
Smells Like Teen Spirit didn’t get a ton of play on pop stations. It was #32 on the 1992 year end Hot 100.
I’m guessing it’s based on sales of the physical single occurred. Wiki says Under the Bridge was a 1992 release even though the album was 1991. Same type of deal for November Rain. I can’t puzzle out the Teen Spirit answer though.
C’mon! #89! Rico. Suave.
I liked Motownphilly, but I was pretty positive on Boyz II Men in general.
A couple of years later, when “I’ll Make Love to You” was released as the lead single on their follow-up album, I still vividly remember it coming on as I was walking through the high school courtyard with a friend of mine. He asked, “Have you heard this song?” I said yes. He said, “This song is so tough.” I gave him the appropriate look to register the weirdness of that compliment and said, “Tough?!” I’m still friends with that guy and I’ve intermittently mocked him for the past 30 years about that moment.
LOL I’m not even sure what that is supposed to mean.
He has never attempted to defend it. I don’t know if that was some ground-floor slang that failed to launch or what. That’s my best guess.
That or he figures you got to be a tough SOB to be crooner like BTM…
I don’t mind that song because no one ever plays except me when I want to give an example of a terrible song.
That fucking Bryan Adams song is inescapable.
I mean, you’ve never made love until you both woke up?
They actually performed at a “Hey look how cool 90s music was” concert recently, and they were the best and most high energy of the lineup.

Has to be. He was trying to make fetch happen, and fetch was never happening there.
