GOAT Movie Themes - First Block of Round 3 Posted

I reckon the theme to 3 Colours: Blue should probably be considered:

There are two versions, the wife, Julie’s (who rewrites the score by films end, having rewritten her life):

And her late husband, Patrice’s unfinished score, which is the basis of the film and the strains of which haunt Julie after his and her child’s death:

If I’m honest I think I prefer Patrice’s version, but the film is about Julie’s torment and redefinition so her version is probably the most true to the film.

Amélie - La Valse d’Amélie (Yann Tiersen)

Casino Royale - You Know My Name (Chris Cornell)

Quantum of Solace - Another Way to Die (Alicia Keys)

Midnight in Paris - Si tu vois ma mère (Sidney Bechet)

(there’s no version w/the opening scenes of Paris w/lots of YT views, but it’s one of the best openings ever imo)

Wat. The song is explicitly from Rose’s perspective, and its lyrics are the core theme of the story. The song is used throughout the movie whether instrumental or vocal to hammer you over the head with the idea that Jack and Rose are falling in love. It’s in the opening and closing credits. There can’t be a definition of a theme that would exclude this but not knock out dozens of worthy contenders.

Very well. I thought it was just the ending. Have to admit I havent watched the complete film since seeing it in the cinema.

Since there are several James Bond entries I have to say that I consider this the James Bond theme but not every individual song:

Nominations will continue until Wednesday, then we’ll get to the voting

Went into the spreadsheet and ticked the challenge boxes for various non-themes. And nuked a couple of direct duplicates (same YT link and view count and everything) when I saw them.

I think the link for chariots of fire is wrong. Edit its the wrong movie on the first entry. Should be 1492: Conquest of Paradise.

Dances with Wolves all day :+1:

A shame this theme was attached to such a mediocre movie.

Oh hell yeah. The music video is my preferred way to watch the movie.

Iirc this was originally supposed to be recorded by Billy Idol?

One of the more frustrating inclusions that I have absolutely no valid category argument against is Jailhouse Rock. Love the song, but it so thoroughly outpaced the film in its success that it now only feels like it is technically a movie theme song since it stands alone as an all-time hit of that era and the film is watched by approximately nobody. Still, I can’t argue that there’s any rule-based exclusion that should apply to it to make it go away.
