Dude running for his 17th Congressional term complaining about AOC trying to “anoint” people, lol.

@anon38180840 - AOC is not a Nordic-style Capitalism with controls person. Not the first time she’s made a reference to something like “Another World is Possible” which is a socialist/anarchist thingy - this quote is from “Capitalism: A Ghost Story” - a tribute to the Occupy Movement.

Then she’s lied numerous times about it.

Cite. It’s perfectly cromulent for a Socialist or Anarchist to talk about how the Scandi social welfare states are doing better than the USA.

Ocasio-Cortez has likened her view of democratic socialism to Scandinavian social democracy. The congresswoman’s progressive platform consists of a single-payer health care system that covers all forms of health care.

"We’re talking about single-payer health care that has already been successful in many different models, from Finland to Canada to the UK,” she said.

Ocasio-Cortez, who is still paying off her student loans, also believes in tuition-free public colleges and universities. Her platform includes guaranteeing Americans a living wage that maintains “basic levels of dignity so that no person in America is too poor to live,” Ocasio-Cortez said. "That’s what democratic socialism means in 2018, and not this kind of McCarthyism Red Scare of a past era.”

Speaking during an Instagram live stream on Monday night, Ocasio-Cortez said markets are not incompatible with the type of socialism she subscribes to.

“You can have free market economies with democratic socialist businesses. What on earth is a democratic socialist business? A perfect example of that is worker cooperatives…which means that…workers own the shares of the company,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

"It does not mean government owns everything. Socialism does not mean government owns everything. I disagree with that notion as well because I think it is undemocratic. I think that it is very easily corrupted and I don’t think that that’s a good thing.

Sounds like if she wants to go past the Nordic model, it’s by giving workers choices to organize and/or encouraging co-op businesses. Doesn’t sound like she’s interested in socializing the entire economy, or anything close to it.

She cites the state socialism as something she likes (health care and education) and then when asked about markets she talks about Anarcho-Syndicalism.

Sounds to me an awful lot like the Nordic model while passing laws to give workers more collective bargaining rights (the vast majority of the left supports this) and/or encouraging co-ops (does anyone oppose this as an option?), while not mandating that structure governmentally.

I think the best way to sum up her positions is Nordic model with strong protections for workers. She’s left of me, but not by a ton IMO, and she’s probably right of at least a third of this forum if not more.

She didn’t say anything about being ok with Capitalism in what you posted.

Germany is probably a better example of worker control than “The Nordic Model”, but still the laws only require minority worker control.

She supports unions like Sabo and PocketChads support unions. They strongly support unions. That’s true. But, the IWW is (not officially) a bunch of Anarchists/Socialists who support worker control over the means of production. Better unions representing workers working for bosses than no unions and workers working for bosses, but better yet, no bosses.

She said you can have free market economies.

This is super Orwellian, in a good way, like what Orwell thought and not from his dystopian fiction. Orwell, the real guy, who fought with communists and anarchists in revolutionary Spain. I guarantee you AOC has read Homage to Catalonia and maybe Proudhon and Kropotkin and Bakunin and Marx.

You can. Anarcho-Syndicalism. It’s not Capitalism. Proudhon, one of the two main founders of sorts of modernish Anarchism (mid 19th century), the guy who said “property is theft” believed in free markets.
