Man, good to see AOC saying the loud parts out loud. It’s about time somebody put it in the perspective of “Why not do the right thing when we’re not in the middle of a pandemic.”
I don’t think its smart vs. stupid in all cases, much of the time it’s about being bought and paid for vs actually being independent of large corporations. There are plenty of smart operatives in politics that are executing their mandate perfectly, but their mandate is to serve the donor class, not to serve the public.
tired: providing much needed cash relief to people who are running out of money with no paycheck in sight
wired: providing municipalities cash to indefinitely lock those people up without trial
She’s completely right here, but a more accurate description is lawmakers decline to right just laws that disadvantage the people that pay the to write laws that do not disadvantage them. They direct quid pro quo of money to politicans to laws should be called out explicitly.

I wasn’t 100% confident she would come out the right way on this one. Like 90% confident, but I was a little worried. Well, not really worried that she would come out the wrong way but that she might be reluctant to come out the right way because surely some of her friends are tankies.
