Why would a party provide their support to a candidate that wants nothing to do with them and does not intend to adhere to the party platform?

Would you say the same thing if the two parties were the Amazon and Facebook parties? If they were the Catholic and Baptist parties?
If the two only viable parties in the US actually get that and their candidates must adhere to their platform, that makes the Chairs of the two parties the most powerful people…in the entire world.
They should not require that out of decency and respect for democracy and no individual should join or support those parties for the same reasons.
