Why would that not be allowed?
According to John Oliver, in the UK you can’t use anything from Parliament’s Speaker (could also be Parliament, not sure) I believe in anything that is related to humor. He ran a very humorous segment on that guy a few months back, and said that none of what we saw in the U.S. could be shown in the U.K. He instead put a bunch of hilariously inappropriate images where the Speaker’s soundbites would have been in the U.K. version of the episode.
Wow. Weird.
It’s all footage of parliamentary chambers. TV cameras were first allowed into the House of Commons in 1989 and as part of the deal broadcasters had to accept a rule not to use the resulting footage in shows classified as satire or light entertainment. Other classifications of show are still allowed to take the piss in passing.
Spitting Image done more damage to the Torys than any show ever, so it was not a surprise that that clause was put into the broadcasting rights. 
I’m guessing they have no problems with stuff like The Thick of It, right?
I’m sure if they could the’d ban all political satire shows as 1 or 2 have caused them their careers like Mock the Week.
