R.I.P. Richard Kelly’s career…

The Filmcast is the one time I heard someone compare Megalopolis to Southland Tales and say they’ll be watching ST more often than Meg.
PS. Kelly says he has a Donnie Darko sequel in the works.

Definitely agree with that person, I had some Southland Tales flashbacks during Megalopolis (both have dialogues and actor delivery being uniquely “unconventional”, if you want to say it nicely), but not in a good way sadly.
I was a huge ST fan back in the day and probably saw it 5+ times but dont see myself ever rewatching Megalopolis.
Re: that Donnie Darko sequel, I have high doubts that it can recreate the magic (when the teenage days of everyone involved including us are long gone), but who knows. Definitely happy if RK can get back to making movies.
(Today’s framed was a “never heard of” for me, as have been 95% lately)

Heard of it, but no real chance.

I think part of the magic of Donnie Darko came from setting the story in high school. I hope he gets back to that.
There was a sequel S. Darko about his younger sister, but Kelly had no involvement with it and gets mad when people complain to him about how bad it was.
