So the same thing happened to those expensive cell phones and that purse I turned in? And yet when I lose my stuff, it’s never at the lost and found… I’m starting to suspect the L&F is a scam!
Often there’s more than one person at the counter so they’re probably all in on it.
About 30 years ago a friend and I returned a briefcase to the local police station that someone had left behind after driving away, after failing to find name and address details inside it. We did notice some credit cards.
When we handed it over to the desk sergeant he opened it as we had, saw the credit cards and quickly closed it, saying “Thank you, that will be all” with a firm nod of the head and stare.
We left in no doubt that the cards would be handed around interested officers in the station.
Those who love their Cheerios for breakfast are well acquainted with how those last few tasty little "O"s tend to clump together in the bowl: either drifting to the center, or to the outer edges.
When I get to the last few my bowl looks more like this
Wait? People are assaulting you when you bring back the stuff they left in your car? I knew you people in Scotland like to fight, but that’s ridiculous.
1 of our guys ran off with what was rumoured to be £50,000 from some gangster but it was a illegal fair to begin with and all skoda drivers had to be wary for weeks after it.
I returned a bag to 2 women-a mother and a daughter… How it happened? So when I got the call around 20 minutes later and as I was in the area I took the bag round to the house, as it was a main door it’s usually all OK, but the lady grabbed the bag as soon as she opened the door and caught me off guard when her husband belted me with a leather belt buckle while she screamed for her £30 back.
It’s not worth calling the police because I have no witnesses and would have had to lose more wages by taking time off to go to court or worse I get charged by them making a story up.
It’s part of the course…Rule 1 in Uber/Private Cabs is Remember when your a driver that you never leave your vehicle, except for emergencys.
Rule 2 is Never leave your vehicle
Because I left my vehicle I wouldn’t get the benifit of the doubt if I called in the police.
My kid found $150 when we were walking into a department store 10 years ago. We gave customer service our phone number and asked them to give it to anyone who came looking for it. I expected to get a call from one of the employees, but nobody ever called. He found a $100 bill next to a limo about 6 months later…kept that one. Then in 2015 we rented a car in Philly and as we were leaving the rental lot my wife opened the glove box and the was a very nice camera in it. The car rental employees looked like a bunch of degenerates, so we kept it and I looked through the photos when we got back home and I was able to track him down and sent it back to him. He was pretty shocked.
That always bugs me about the cards that go around for baby presents and retirements and stuff at work. I never know how much to take out of the envelope.
All I heard as I was backing away was that there was definitely £30 took from it as her and her daughter took a rather short shift search of it by just opening and closing it… Then the Father/Husband comes behind them and quickly clocked me from the side and got me pretty good… It was dark lol.
A couple a drunks with a distraught daughter who know better than to mess about with drivers, it’s poor folks so it could have been any story, or just chancers.
A coop ride share Hmm it sounds good in principle and would be best for all. I’d be interested to hear more about it for sure.
