End of Year / New Years Resolutions

Not exactly a resolution and it’s not new years anymore, but I think I want to be camping or at least hiking somewhere outside of town at least once a month. At least a day trip. I may have to wait until my mom (recovering from a broken ankle) doesn’t need someone 24/7, but maybe not.

Cheers friends, they are still interested. Pays a nice mint that’s poverty wages for most but would be all I need for secondary or even primary income. Now to submit a sample and :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers: again.

Brag: down about 15lbs on the year from going to the gym/running at least 3-4x a week plus not having a single beer.
Beat: haven’t gone to the gym in like 3 weeks
Variance: because we’re home there’s plenty of time to actually sit at the dinner table together (one resolution was to actually eat dinner like civilized people at the table)

Woot! Any idea when you can share what outlet it is?

I will PM you. Nothing to hide. I value my privacy is all.

Awesome. We seem to have a lot in common so I wonder if I have heard of them.

Update:

  • no drinking :white_check_mark:

  • low sodium diet :white_check_mark:
    BP down to 130

  • learn Spanish :white_check_mark:
Our trip to Peru is very much in doubt at this point. Even if borders are open, my wife would not be able to attend prior to being vaccinated against COVID-19. Our conversational Spanish class has one more video class, and then we may be on our own. I’ve been doing DuoLingo every day, and some grammar videos while running on the treadmill. We also are speaking Spanish at the dinner table, and identifying all of the foods that we eat.

  • fitness :yellow_square:
Definitely not as much as I want to do, but still active (at least a walk) most days.

  • learn other stuff :yellow_square:
Learning more about viruses. I did do very well on a ski trip out west, skiing tons of moguls with my daughter.

  • finances :yellow_square:
Portfolio is weathering the storm because of bond and cash allocations. Plans may change, as my wife may need to go on disability or retire to avoid having to work before a vaccine is available. So I will probably push out my retirement until either getting laid off with a package, or until we get settled in new housing in a year or two. We will probably buy one or two properties on the downswing. One new possibility is to live in the country, and have a city apartment rented out during the week, and available for our use on weekends.

You’re far too chill to need resolutions!

Bench to 130kg
One leg squat + 55kg
Press 86kg
Body weight 110kg. (Currently 116)

Should probably put some work or financial goals, but these are easier to think about so…

Business grew by like 300% thanks to no shortage of old people with money and free time during a pandemic. This was by no means a smooth ride tho. My wife still needs to work.

Lol no, but I did photoshop a stupid amount of political memes.

LOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL

Does the Arts & Entertainment subforum count as a game?

This was a resounding success. Made several acquaintances at Unstuck and even a close friend or two. Some are people I’ve known longer than I care to admit, but we were only acquaintances until this year.

Moderating this place guarantees me a place in heaven.

I quit shortly after. I got tired of being broke so went back to charging people appropriate sums of money to ask for my opinion on something.

Job: not super happy with the job. Moved back to Australia and took a job that was a little of a step down. Over the last 18 months the job has shrank further and further due to subsequent restructures and changes.

Not sure what to do here, because I’ve moved jobs a fair bit in the last 5 years. Adding one more short job to the CV probably isn’t great, but then neither is allowing my career to die in a job I’m not enjoying.

job more enjoyable. Have moved within the same company. Still on the same pay, but feeling better about prospects

Health. Have some specific health goals I’m working on. This is however going pretty well and I’m in a good routine.

good year health wise. Didn’t hit all my goals, but im staying fit and exercising on the reg

Education. Relating to job stuff. Considering doing a part time masters in Energy Systems. (Renewables, climate change, electricity grids, etc)

This is a big time and money investment tho if I’m not sure.

did the masters. Going very well but its a lot of time

Social: I have no friends in my new city. Next season at rugby will probably get me a bunch, if that’s the type of friend I’m looking for.

looooooool

Languages. I really should be working on my Tagalog. I’m probably about 12 months of effort away from being conversational. But I just can’t get over the hump.

fail

Time management. I spend way to much time on my phone. These apps are gross and addictive and I don’t know how to quit.

“Suggested for you” videos on Facebook… ugh

some progress. Still too much time on facebook, but the masters got me being more productive overall

2 goals for 2021:

  • Fitness. I enjoy running and typically run 20-35 miles/week barring injuries or bad weather. But icy periods like right now put a damper on that. Plus, I’ve had a few overuse injuries in the last few years. So this year I’m going to try to combine running with other cardio activities to achieve a good level of fitness with no injuries. Just ordered a Peloton bike to try to make this happen.

  • Want to learn Python.
