It’s just a retread of one of the right’s favorite games imo:

Go out of your way to do something that reasonable people see as a Nazi salute.

Insist it wasn’t a Nazi salute and that the people claiming it was are nuts.
-
Gain support of Nazis while the non-Nazi elements are too dumb to see through the charade or don’t care.
If you’ve paid any attention to who Elon is personally boosting on Twitter that he may not personally at his core be a Nazi is rather unimportant.
