Elon Musk: The Reichest Man Alive

rofl we are fucked and my elon bet is cooked. “the market can stay delusional longer than you can stay solvent” or some such ive been told many times. fafo’d. praise our new overlord.

back in the early days, there was a short window where they offered the FSD hardware upgrade for $2k to any Model 3 owners who didn’t buy it originally.

Yes, we jumped on that. Now it’s like 10k extra.

I pulled the trigger on one of those “i bought it before we knew he was nuts” window clings because I honestly can’t afford to get a new car right now.

just sell it and get a good hybrid, these things are depreciating like nuts

I literally can’t. Getting a divorce and need as little financial upheaval as possible.

oh sorry, that does suck, if i was forced to drive a tesla id go mad. i live in the tesla capital of the world i think and to me its so god damn obvious theyre shitty cars, i literally have been working on software for my car (one of the nice things about my car is it pretends like i own the software on it and can modify it to my liking) to alert me to teslas nearby at a certain speed, because i seriously have come close to peril so many times due to what i think is either bad driving encouraged by the software or the software itself. i have nfi whats going on, but, those cars are also moving spyware which drives me nuts too. like im in their shitty algorithm whether i like it or not.

I actually didn’t mind it until they disabled the radar. My car is one that had the radar and the FSD/autopilot used to work amazingly well.

Now it’s annoying and I rarely use it.

I’ve never had any issues other than that, though, and tbh, it’s one of the better cars I’ve owned. When I bought it there was no comparison, now I think others have caught up.

my issue isnt with the tech, I think the future is in that tech (although it being proprietary to me is absurd), it’s how opaque and inaccessible it is and prone to abuses that have already been documented, like, the fact tesla employees can and have accessed dash cameras to spy on customers amorous moments tells me all i need to know. what if elon knew your plate number, or vehicle profile for instance, and told his algorithm to fuck with you in ways to drive up your insurance policy? its for sure possible. am i saying hes done that? no, its impossible to prove. could he and is he that petty? yep. its a trust issue for me. i just want a “dumb” car of the future that isnt trying to spy on every single thing i do on the road.

Sorry to hear that. Now 20 years on the other side. In a much better place finance wise, 16+ year marriage with a great partner, good relationships with the now adult kiddos.

It will get better.

Saw the cybertruck in the carpool line at school again today. Man, do I have Elon Derangement Syndrome because I automatically assume that parent is an asshole and about a 75% chance their kid is, too. And my kids could know that kid.

There are a surprising amount of domain name combinations with “elon” and “nazi” that are already taken… But I’m thinking about it…

I figure he’d probably win the suit and that’s why no big news outlet said it

Sure would be a fun trial though

Amazon too, I’ve read. Gotta grease those wheels of government.

My neighbor’s house across the street from me just sold for well above asking. An elderly lady lived there for years - it was run down and a major fixer-upper. The listing even said so and they didn’t even bother cleaning the inside for pics. But still, sold for nearly as much as Zillow says my halfway decent house is worth. Cool!

This week, there has been a roofing/siding/etc. company there starting renovations. I have some stuff I need fixed on the exterior of my house that I’ve been putting off because of cost, but I figured I’d go over, get a business card, and have someone come over to give me a quote when they get a chance. Why not? (note: I haven’t done it yet)

I just walked past the window and saw a cybertruck pull up across the street completely wrapped in the contractor’s branding. Now I’m wondering if I can trust them if they are willing to waste that much money on an impractical cybertruck and a full-vehicle wrap.

You can’t.

If you can tell the people working there are subs and can get their numbers, call them directly. If you just go over and ask if they are subs and for a direct bid, you put them in a position where they should really refer you to the prime instead of bidding directly.

Walk over there, ask the guy in the track suit for a business card, pretend you just saw the truck, ask him if its his, and when he gives you that shit eating grin, say “Oh. Well you’re going to need this then, champ” and drop it on the floor and walk out.

Elon wants x.com to be a bank and payment processor. Now I assume he will want it to be the US Treasury.
