I don’t have a problem with you at all. This Twitter thread is much better.

But like you can just instantly reject the hypothesis that crime victimization is random. You can either use common sense or look at any of the numbers in the charts you linked that don’t have red boxes around them. If this was random, all the rows would be the same!

Question about the crime data - is that a full enumeration of all crimes commited in the country or a sample of those crimes? And if the latter - what is the sampling methodology?

I am not sure where I thought Tucker would end up, but consider me shocked he found his best option is Twitter (without any special deal).

Just because Elon says there isn’t a special deal does not mean there is not a special deal.

Also, I have a feeling Tucker the Tweeter will be a bit more concerned about liability for defamation than he was at Fox.

lol, just a week ago people were seriously talking about Tucker dominating the podcast universe. I guess he’s doing a self-financed Yootoobe channel now?

Nah Mr Musk is likely the one financing it.

The tv show? Why are you all getting tweets about that? Did they have a transgender on?

“The acid test is that I could not see your DMs even if there was a gun to my head,” Musk tweeted.

I don’t think he knows what acid test means, but maybe he does and we will have someone hold a gun to his head.

Also this sounds bad.

In the same tweet, Musk said that voice and video chat from Twitter handles would be “coming soon,” and he confirmed that any users with the latest version of the app “can DM reply to any message in the thread (not just most recent) and use any emoji reaction.”

People started making fun of it and it caught on.

laying off 75% of the company then rolling out a huge feature like that, on the back of other huge app changes. that’s… hardcore. you gotta hand it to him.

I don’t have a problem with you at all.

Cool. I think you’re a smart, generally reasonable guy even if I don’t always agree with you.

But like you can just instantly reject the hypothesis that crime victimization is random.

It leads to a useful insight, which you don’t throw away. It gives you something to compare the data to. Which, you did:

You can either use common sense or look at any of the numbers in the charts you linked that don’t have red boxes around them. If this was random, all the rows would be the same!

Since they’re not the same, the next question is why? (And why does Elon’s chart exaggerate the B/W, W/B difference?) But maybe that’s better left for the experts, which is why I posted Kareem’s tweet in the first place.

The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) is the nation’s primary source of information on criminal victimization. Each year, data are obtained from a nationally representative sample of about 240,000 persons in about 150,000 households. Persons are interviewed on the frequency, characteristics, and consequences of criminal victimization in the United States.

More details here.

I am seeing a show talk about it now. I used to watch the show first few seasons. Funny just now people catching on to how crazy it can be.
