Elon Musk: I, for one, welcome our new pasty overlord

Normalizing for income or wealth it seems to me that Blacks are committing less crimes against Whites than would be expected.

Probably because they have no initiative!

nobody wants to work anymore

Even in a very simple model where every person has an equal random chance to commit a crime against any person they encounter, there will be a lot more Black one white crime than white on Black simply due to population abundances.

Understood. But given that the % of crime committed by black people against white people is roughly the same as the % of black people in the population and given that the poor people commit more crime and that black people are more likely to be poor, black people are punching below their weight.

Because rich people write the laws.

Even with that caveat, I’m not sure your statement is true.

Everyone knows Elon’s tweet was gross and why. The instinct to backfill your revulsion with shoddy statistical analysis to make it feel more scientific is very unwise.

Uhhhh no everyone most definitely does not know this, what world are you living in?

No they do. If you break crime down along socio economic lines it highly correlates, at least the last time I looked at it. This doesn’t mean poor people bad, it just means we live in a screwed up world and people get desperate. Plus as noted the rich write the laws, and also have the resources to not get in trouble when they commit a crime.

I had a situation when I was 19 and got arrested for a felony. If I didn’t have the resources it could have really negatively impacted the rest of my life. But being white and of means I got deferred adjudication and expungement. I worry had I been a poor minority I might of started a life in and out of prison.

Enough rambling on my part.

poor people certainly get arrested/charged more… i’m not sure im willing to give that they “commit” more. i’d bet the total amount of white collar crimes/fraud going on under the radar would blow our minds.

In general, ok. I might agree even if you take out “shoddy”, because what’s the point, Elon and his friends are unaffected. They’ve moved on.

Speaking for myself, I feel more contempt than revulsion. That’s on top of increasing and nearly overwhelming fatigue. As for the rest, what can I say, I have my shortcomings. If you addressed this to Kareem, I think he’d see assumptions, unhelpful criticism, and an insult.

As for the analysis itself, other people are making similar points.

Imagine just giving up $25 million to do a “show” on Twitter.

Wild

I am now convinced Elon is trying to intentionally destroy Twitter.

This is the dumbest idea in the history of humanity.

Seems like AOC and many others will have to leave the platform

The demographics and ability to comment on Twitter means this will die shortly after launch.

What is Elon trying to do, get 70 y/os who don’t know how to use phones and aren’t valuable to advertising drive Twitter?

Tucker will land Twitter in hot water in the EU as a hate speech platform. Everyone in the US will leave. It’s insanity.
