Dachau was the concentration camp that was in operation the longest, from March 1933 to April 1945, nearly all twelve years of the Nazi regime. Dachau’s close proximity to Munich, where Hitler came to power and where the Nazi Party had its official headquarters, made Dachau a convenient location. From 1933 to 1938, the prisoners were mainly German nationals detained for political reasons.

It’s obviously not going to be liberal voters. It’s going to be activists, community organizers, civil rights lawyers, civil servants, politicians, academics ect.

The Republican Party Platform actually described a group they are going after and it’s people protesting against the war in Israel. They promise to deport these people. They will all be what anyone here would consider a radical activist.
People on UP are basically activist. We are drawing live to being sent to concentration camps. Can we switch UP to private? I doubt the govt can figure out how to bypass that

They have openly talked about mass deportation, political killings, locking up all opposition, ect. Surely we are past the point of thinking they are not serious?
I mean, I’m not talking about some tweet from some rando. I’m talking about the official published Republican Party Platform.
I’m talking about the president and vice president-elect. Not to mention many many of their cronies.
I don’t know who said what about political killings or locking up all opposition. About Mass Deportation? Of course they are serious about that. It’s like 3 separate items in their official platform. It’s what they campaigned on and it’s widely popular among rank and file, not just a few randoms.
They’re talking about undocumented people living in the US. They are the primary target. If we are freaking out about what the Trump administration is going to do along fascist lines, it should be about how this group can be protected. Dunno if they can. It might be actually dangerous to provide them any material help. But that’s nothing new. People have been prosecuted for giving them water.
Obviously not supposed to admit this, but some posters here 100% would have participated in the protests under similar circumstances in the first Trump administration with the only difference being Trump egging on the killing and destruction.
And though people are going to be much fearful and reluctant to protest in his second term, have no doubt that there are some Bannon like sickos who are going to intentionally ratchet up the cruelty until they spark protests they can crush. As in, “oh you are not going to protest us deporting X, Y and Z groups, cool we are going to deport groups A, B and C now.”
I think it’s very silly to think making a forum private is a reasonable measure to what you are afraid of. For one, I highly doubt anyone here is prominent or important enough to be targeted by our govt, and if there is, then the government already has accounts and is surveilling a place like this. Two, this measure is thwarted by something as breathtakingly complicated as creating an account. Three, due to the ridiculous amount of corporate surveillance, adtech, and massive leaked or semi-private databases that contain astonishingly minute and individual profiles on practically everyone, that’s publicly for sale already, means “they” already are aware who you are.

I made a joke about being sent to the camps, but it’s really a coping mechanism.
I’m small time, but I am a DNC delegate, an elected member of the state and county dem parties, and a very vocal and public voice for Democrats in a red area. Granted, it’s in California, but it’s always in the back of my mind, wondering how long it will take for them to work their way down the list to me.
I can imagine AQ and a couple others on this forum are feeling even more worried about this than I am.
I should disclaim all this dooming with the fact that I am a Canadian citizen, so fleeing is always an option for me that others don’t have.
Like I said in my initial response to you “I know these are jokes”. And if no one else were talking about camps…whatever…but if the subject of camps is going to come up a lot here, I just wanted to add the perspective that there are camps, they may grow, and no more than a couple of us are really threatened. (I don’t think AQ is really feeling threatened now. And, assuming we have no undocumented here, probably Risky is the most threatened by the incoming administration.)
