Elon Musk: I, for one, welcome our new pasty overlord

I haven’t deleted Twitter yet but I haven’t browsed Twitter in at least two months. Anything I see is because it was posted somewhere else, and I don’t click to read comments. I could probably just delete it.

I just deactivated the other day as well. I was in the middle of wanting to rage at some idiot and I said

I realized that I used twitter as a little bit of a release valve and don’t think it was serving me in a healthy way. So, bye.

Twitter is where most people will be posting real-time updates if you are in the vicinity of a mass shooting.

I was in the vicinity of a mass shooting in Prague. Didn’t check Twitter. Also, what am I gonna check? Someone’s P U S S Y I N B I O?

Ok I’m dumb I don’t get it.

There are a lot of bots on Twitter that keep posting those 3 words together with a picture of a female in their thumbnail. They post it under everything, from mass shooting news to Biden posts, and everything in between. It often gets promoted to be the top comment, I know this from this thread as I deleted twitter as soon as Elon took over.

yeah, what big said. porn bot accounts have basically taken over twitter and are in the replies of everything, and boosted to the top with bluecheck algo.

And the tweet posted is playing on a double meaning of bio, at least as it’s used in the US

Bio on Twitter refers to the users self-description section

Bio in the joke refers to biology class

To further expand on hokie’s point:
A double entendre (plural double entendres) is a figure of speech or a particular way of wording that is devised to have a double meaning, of which one is typically obvious, whereas the other often conveys a message that would be too socially awkward, sexually suggestive, or offensive to state directly. A double entendre may exploit puns or word play to convey the second meaning. Double entendres generally rely on multiple meanings of words, or different interpretations of the same primary meaning. They often exploit ambiguity and may be used to introduce it deliberately in a text. Sometimes a homophone can be used as a pun.

Double meanings can often be seen as humourous.

I’ve been saying it since the Elon takeover. The end stage of unmoderated social media is 4chan. Porn, spam, and nazis. That’s what will dominate every feed if not moderated properly.

Porn bots and MrBeast ads that don’t say “ad” and look like a real post.

What does proper moderation look like? I think the practical path might be social media that allows third party blacklist and whitelist add-ons so people can create curated gardens, but those people need to accept that anything goes outside their walls.

Until AI gets better, and this is probably the perfect job for them, you’ll need to have people in the loop who can make a judgement call about whether a post is following the rules or not. Despite our evidence to the contrary, it is possible to have real people do that without it turning 1 website into 3 or 4 websites…

that siphon all of the advertiser money away from everyone else. elon’s on the hook for like 250k per beast video now just trying to make fetch(x video) happen

I refuse to believe that in the year of our lord 2024 an algorithm can’t detect “M | Y | P | U | S | S | Y | I | N | B | I | O”
