Elon Musk: I, for one, welcome our new pasty overlord

How do you test taking an existing free service and making it pay?

Edit - code is gone.

Well, that’s just flagrantly illegal. Not that it will matter.

Like which news organizations are going to let Twitter be their publishing and advertising platforms though?

Pretty sure not marking ads as ads is illegal.

but see they’re not going to be “ads” they are going to be posts with click through images from “verified” “real life” users…

bob7865934(bluecheck) posts, “the new RU1N mobile game is totally lit!!1! and definitely not a scam!”

that’s just a real person posting about how they enjoyed this new mobile game that totally wont steal your credit card information on signup.

What if Elon is tanking Twitter so he can buy cheap and go long, like Eddy Murphy in the pork belly scene in Trading Places?

In a recent story, this writer speculated that Elon Musk himself is in a powerful position to purchase a big chunk of the debt pile that’s haunting X at a sharp markdown, or securing a solution where the banks simply write off some of the loans, a move that would improve X’s standing, enabling them to safely syndicate the rest.

I prefer Hanlon’s razor.

Not for nothing, but have you guys seen ‘Scarface’? The Brian DePalma directed one from the early 80s? The movie with all the Italians (and a Jewish guy or two) playing Cubans? You know, the one of like two movies that people can name which features prominently Robert Loggia? If you do, you will recall that there was this one scene where a guy gets pushed out of a helicopter with a rope tied around his neck and hung, because he “didn’t fly straight.”

Anyway, I would, personally, not at all be offended if that same fate befell every single person who used the word “spend” when they should obviously be saying “spending” like a goddamned normal, sane, King’s English speaker.

Facebook is the same. Try putting a link in your post and see how many of your friends it goes out to.

It seems that a link in a tweet has a very minimal preview now. Just an image and some text showing the domain.

Interesting.
