Fun fact that @Sogge found out: Those arenā€™t uppercase Is; they are lowercase Ls.

Iā€™m old enough to remember that when I was being taught how to type (on a typewriter, but at least it was electric) we were instructed to type lower case Ls instead of 1s. Apparently they both came out the same. It could have been that the textbook was really old.

Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s me being old as fuck or my high school just having outdated equipment in 9th grade typing class, but we had a whole room full of the manual typewriters that had no 1 key. I remember not only the lowercase L thing, but making an exclamation point by typing an apostrophe, backspacing, and then a period.

Another fun thing about learning on a manualā€“to this day I hit the A key way harder than I need to, due to needing extra oomph to strike it hard enough with my pinky for it to come out dark enough.

OK, you win. Our typewriters had a one key, but it was just quicker to use the L key, so that is what was taught. I donā€™t even remember the exclamation point thing. Not sure I got that far along.
