Not sure what the argument is about, but pretty sure I’m a leftist and I’m all for redistricting if red states are gonna do it. I’m also for packing the SC and whatever else it takes to gain equal footing again. Norms went out the window a long time ago. We’re losing democracy because Dems keep showing up with pea shooters to a gun fight. Republicans are evil and fight dirty. If we’re not willing to match their ferocity, then the alternative is to do nothing and die

I think this is true, but it also needs to be done in a way that builds democracy rather than takes it down.
I.e. pack the supreme court and then pass a bunch of anti corruption laws for justices.
For redistricting, all gerrymandered proposals should also have a “revert to fair districts” clause built in if red states do it to.
I.e..its do whatever it takes to defend democracy, not do whatever it takes to keep Dems in power

That actually does make things make a bit more sense. Can we at least agree that Uganda wouldn’t be a great destination for the gay hairdresser, since he could catch a life sentence for being gay?
People questioning if it would get better when Trump dies blow my mind. Nothing has ever seemed more obvious to me in my life.

I think a better analogy is that America is burning down and Trump is constantly throwing more accelerant on the fire. You still have to put out the fire, but it would be helpful if he wasn’t there.

Good analogy except Trump isn’t just throwing accelerant on the original existing fire. He is spending every day lighting new fires all over the world making it impossible to deal with the original one.

I think Trump dying would be a huge help, but fundamentally we have multiple generations of Americans who are enthusiastic supporters of fascism and will jump on board the next rightwing carnival barker who promises to round up all the Mexicans.

Cults of personality dont generally survivor the end of the cult leader.
Republicans won’t magically become logical reasoned people but absent the cult leader I have no doubt at all the insanity would be massively downgraded.

The solution as I see it is in dealing with the main pyre that’s burning down our democracy. I’m all for free speech, but until we find a way to stop half the country being spoon fed evil lies day in and day out by outlets like Fox News and all the alt right streams, things aren’t going to get any better Trump or no Trump

That may be an unsolvable problem. Our democracy was always a house of cards. I’m with Clovis. Getting to post trump America is a very important step.
