Dice Math Containment Thread

He needs to be rerolling more than 80% of the time to make keeping a 45 better than rerolling. That seems unlikely, and is certainly not optimal for him.

I’m “not” a lot of things. In fact, these days, I struggle to find what I am. What I am not seems to come naturally.

Unless I made a mistake (very possible!) this is what I get (again assuming continuous distributions on [0,1]), with x is threshold for P1 reroll and y for P2 :

first line is value for P1 of staying at x vs value when rerolling
second line is, assuming P1 didn’t reroll, value for P2 of staying at y vs rerolling

Just gonna say, for a math nerd pile of nonsense this thread has been supremely entertaining.

Alright, what is actually occurring here? What is the statement of the problem?
