I mean I know nothing matters, but is it wrong for me to still hold out a little itty bitty ray of hope for this to actually be disqualifying AND to result in Bernie actually getting the nomination?

At this point I’d be happy if it were pretty much anyone besides Biden. Obv I want Bernie but I’d be pretty stoked about Cuomo. Like how many Dems are actually worse than biden?
Media will ignore Biden being a rapist until the general where Trump will use it against him and win easily.
The first part is possible. LOL the second part.
Something about Bernie = “Lol, wait until the GOP oppo research hits”
Something about Biden = “If Biden loses it’s your fault for talking about this”
They can’t ignore it if Bernie runs with it.
If he wants a chance of winning, he has to be willing to risk harming Biden in a way that makes it much more likely that Trump wins if Bernie can’t win the nomination. Biden’s main argument is electability. Bernie has to make Biden less electable to win over people who prefer Bernie’s policies but think that Biden has a better chance of beating Trump, but risks winning their resentment for making Trump more likely to be re-elected.
I would be more willing to feel the Bern if Sanders went super negative scorched earth and eschewed policy in favor of going deeply personal in attacks.
grunching
judo flip
WAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN
Maybe before we die somebody can explain it in a way that doesn’t rely on fallacious circular nonsense. Fingers crossed.
And understand the same way I would defend Bernie is the same way I did ‘defend’ Hillary, sorry if that feels like a cheat code.
Not sure if you’re serious, but Bernie can’t generate enough support to beat Joe fucking Biden. That should say something.
If you had an Obama-like candidate with Bernie’s platform, I think it could have happened this year.
It does indeed.
If “it” is the idea that Bernie wasn’t a good enough candidate to win…
There is this noble and naive notion that the candidate with the best policies should win. However, winning isn’t predicated on having the best policies. Elections in America require having the best narrative, one that either wins over the media or breaks through the wall of media bias. Sanders understood this when he criticized the track record of the Hillary/Gore/Kerry type candidates whose platform was that they were competent and experienced but who lacked a narrative of change.
The problem for Sanders is that he does not appear to have a compelling narrative that reaches beyond his core supporters. It doesn’t matter if it his fault or the media’s fault. For whatever reason, his story is not resonating enough. It’s possible that no candidate can ever be good enough. It’s possible that his message would resonate more strongly if not bound up in the visage of an old white man.
Is the media biased against all progressives or did Sanders lack the skill to tame the mainstream media and use it to his will or did he fail to utilize social media sufficiently to go around the media? Whatever it was, he wasn’t a good enough politician and candidate to overcome everything that was arrayed against him despite having significantly better policies than Biden.
The bottom line is that who is the better candidate depends on the question of: better at what? For people who think that beating Trump is what is most important, it should be understandable why someone would think that Biden, who won’t have the thumbs of the media and the establishment pressing down on the scale against him, at least not as hard, might stand a better chance against Trump. There is no one who is a lock to beat Trump, but there is almost no credible Democrat who I think is a sure loser against Trump. Maybe Hillary. People who say Biden has no chance of beating Trump have no idea what they are talking about. As long as he is a Democrat with a pulse, he has a reasonable chance.
It’s so obvious that there are strong forces that don’t want Bernie to win and he hasn’t instilled in neutral observers any confidence that he can marshal the forces to counter-act that. No matter what else he does right, if he can’t do that, then he isn’t a good enough candidate to win the nomination.
Imagine if instead of spending 5 media cycles on nonsense about cuba the media spent even 1 on the credible rape accusation against Joe Biden? It’s been out there for years but I’ve never heard about it until I stumbled across a random sound cloud a few days ago and I’m weirdly into all this dumb shit. Do you think it might have changed a few people’s vote to know the kind of person they were voting for.
This has all gotten pretty dull. It’s basically been weeks of:
One side: Bernie faced all kinds of unfair obstacles.
Other side: Conceded! True! +1!!! Also, he’s just not a good enough candidate to overcome those obstacles.
First side: That’s not true! Bernie faced all kinds of unfair obstacles.
so
cool
But what are you expecting Bernie supporters to do? They just literally had an election stolen from them through sub-gop level vote fraud and now they’re expected to what? Go all in for the evil corrupt rapist who just cheated them? Stop complaining about being cheated? What are you after?
It would have happened if one of the other candidates had made a point about it. That’s a failure of all of them, including Sanders.
