Jesus,we’re getting into lawn sign levels of idiocy now. Just look at the vote totals. Turnout increase for olds compared to 2016 is far higher than 18-29. The Sanders campaign has admitted they have not brought in nearly as many young voters as they thought they would.
But yeah great job on filling arenas with like 1% of the vote totals you need to win
Man, Johnny, that is so far removed from reality I don’t even know where to begin.
Like, what ‘knockout punch’? What are you even talking about?
I mean, I was just about to make a post opining on how surreal it was that there was no ‘knockout punch’ or a death-by-a-thousand-cuts but the exact opposite, that they timed the consolidation perfectly, along with the debate schedule, to avoid Bernie slicing Biden or whomever then delivering his own knockout blow!
Wtf was Amy “Staplers” Klobuchar even doing there except to draw fire?
And in what kind of sane world do they pull that drooping out stunt and not have the reaction be, well, obviously we have to postpone ST and have more debates, this changes everything? That nobody on the internet even offhandedly mentions this shows how much we’ve normalized insanity.
And I’m not implying a conspiracy because, trust this, as much as we were shocked at Pete dropping out and directing his cult to support a fresh, bold, new politics, i.e. Joseph Biden, the ghouls who bought his soul were just as surprised it worked. Like, they’re thinking holy shit, we thought we were bad but these youngsters are absolute amoral sociopaths! This shit might actually work! I mean, telegraphed? It’s unprecedented for the IA winner (and NH tier) to drop out before ST, again, what are you even talking about?
Tortured poker analogy: Bernie is the shark who got into the high-roller game with the stupid donks, he called their stupid bluffs and won, and they said nah fuck that we’re not cashing him out.
Those other questions were mostly rhetorical but what’s your metric for the answers not working, and what would’ve worked? It’s not your relatives westworlding and/or claiming an answer isn’t sufficient, as cover. No answer would be sufficient! You get how far gone a person has to be to think ‘how are you gonna pay for it’ is a good question? They’re not dropping a ‘hard’ touche after that.
(the entire oh-who-can-beat-trump shit was manufactured as an attack on Bernie but i get how much this is a minority view)
I feel a little scummy even going here but you said the last four years ‘radicalized’ you and we can see when you first posted about ‘feeling the bern’ so one, I don’t think you grasp at all how significant Bernie’s achievement is and two, you’ve been giving a pass to a lot of things for a long time but it hasn’t been Bernie and the left.
Why would you try to place that burden on the young? It’s widely accepted that the Democrats need more turnout from younger and less frequent voters if they want to win. The people who are actually in that demographic showed up in their usual numbers and overwhelmingly supported the candidate who appealed to them.
Meanwhile, the party leadership and their most reliable voters have done everything they possibly could to discourage those same people. It has been repeatedly made clear that the Democratic party is unwilling to do anything at all for the left and the young. And now you want to blame them for not showing up?
The olds and the establishment are going to win or lose with their candidate of choice, Joe Biden. That is 100% on them.
No, he grew a power base independent from the old Chicago machine iirc. Idk if rshm had a national profile before that but it should have been an huge red flag.
we need to STOP pouring so much of our efforts and energy into the presidency and do more at the local level. How do you think Republicans have been doing it for the past 30 years? That’s right, they’ve literally taken over local/state politics, from the fucking school board to the Governor’s mansion.
Why? because democrats don’t bother with that stuff, and keep trying for the big prize. You want to change hearts and minds, it needs to start at the level that actually effects peoples’ everyday lives. School boards. City councils. Mayors. County commissioners. State senators and assembly members. People that get money to fix roads and fill potholes and add stoplights to that intersection where people keep dying.
Putting all our eggs in the Bernie or AOC basket is exactly the wrong approach.
Also, on the “Bernie is a bad politician” takes…uh, isn’t that what we want? However, I don’t think you have to be a good politician to run a good campaign. I’ve been watching our Pete volunteer slack all day, and a few have them have gone over to try to volunteer on Joe Biden’s texting campaigns. OMG it is terrible. Literally one of the worst, most terribly-run campaigns I’ve ever seen. Maybe Pete’s team spoiled us, but HOLY SHIT…if Bernie can’t build a campaign to beat this disorganization, I understand losing a little hope.
How? They closed them in areas that are very pro Biden. I live in a large Texas county that led the nation in poll closings despite a population boom. My district is black majority, heavily Biden and had multiple polling center closings over the last decade. I voted early in the same location that people had to wait hours on election day and everybody I saw voting was 50+ and majority were AA.
