Democratic Primaries 2020 - Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Sense for whom, and for what?!?

Look, I don’t care if you troll this forum but kindly chill that bullshit when you talk to me.

It doesn’t make sense for her to endorse anyone right now if her goal is to advance her policy goals. It’s a low leverage situation.

There’s no point in her endorsing Bernie right now. It doesn’t enhance his chances significantly. Their positions on her core issues are so close that she doesn’t have anything to ask for in exchange for an endorsement. There are things she can ask for from Biden, but he’s not in a place where he will feel the need to concede anything.

If Bernie gets closer to winning, then she can endorse in a way that makes it look like she may have been the one to put him over the top. If Biden marches onward, she can use an endorsement to signal that the race is over and try to save him from a messy convention.

In 2016, she declined to endorse anyone during the primaries, conspicuously the only female Senator not to endorse Hillary Clinton. Unless Sanders can make it look more like a 50-50 race, she is likely to reserve her endorsement because she thinks it will be more useful to wait and be a figure who can help bring about party unity after the nomination has been decided.

What does she gain by endorsing now?

I take it the Maddow interview was so absurd that nobody is even talking about it?

The fact that #Maddow is trending hard and almost all of it is snowflakes complaining about snake emojis explains pretty much where we’re at right now.

Above all, what Warren would want is the ability to influence appointments to Biden’s economic team. That’s something she fought a lot over with Obama. I’m not sure if Biden will ever be willing to give her that.

Plus I approve of everything involved in that image so I’m assuming it’s the highlight.

For me, the highlights are her being happy to take credit for tanking Bloomberg’s campaign and her explanation of how the coronavirus is affecting the economy.

That’s a fair response so I’m asking this not as a troll: You’re saying she wouldn’t want Bernie to win above all?

I’m saying that she can do math. How much does her endorsement help Bernie? If he’s still a longshot even if she backs him, it’s possible that it is more +EV to get some concessions from the likely winner than to swing for the fences. Some people might want her to back Bernie due to reasoning similar to Pascal’s wager, but I don’t think she sees it that way. She may decide that Bernie can’t win the nomination and, even if he could, the forces arrayed against him, including those from within the party, make it more difficult for him to beat Trump than some of us want to admit.

Above all, she’s a pragmatist. She’s not going to go against her principles, but she will accept a partial victory instead of holding out for the best-case scenario.

Remember when Jeb Bush’s campaign almost collapsed over what his feelings were regarding the Iraq War? Meanwhile here we are four years later and no one dares bring up that not only did Joe Biden feel the Iraq War was a good idea, he actively used his position of power to campaign for us to rush into the war.

Its 2020 and the Republican Party is more reflective about the Iraq War than the Democrats. I fucking quit.
