A few hard lads and chaps met up with some young boys and began to easy into the new normal of keeping their distance as they tried to confront the other trouble makers using the bus shelter as a circus ride [/quote]
They’re… fucking… stockpiles of Budweiser? What in fuck are you saying, mate? I’ve watched a shitload of British TV all my life since childhood, I have an Acorn TV subscription, I just got done watching an episode of Rumpole of the Bailey, but I still have no goddamn idea what the Scots are saying half the time. I watched Happy Valley on Netflix (outstanding show by the way!) and I had to turn on subtitles at some point because the thick Scottish dialog became incomprehensible to me. They’re all like: “Bally Jerry, pranged his kite right in the how’s-your-father; hairy blighter, dicky-birded, feathered back on his sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harpers and caught his can in the Bertie,” JFC what in god’s name are you lot going on about.
Rumpole of the Bailey is an interesting show, BTW. I thought it was going to be a legal procedural like Law and Order in the 1970’s UK, but it’s really a show that has interesting things to say about the legal system and the ethical rules and daily lives of lawyers. There are some episodes where we the audience don’t know if Rumpole’s client is actually guilty or not.
Also, Happy Valley is pretty fuking great if you want a Fargo-style gritty crime drama set in Scotland. It’s on Netflix.
