COVID-19: Chapter 8 - Ongoing source of viral information, and a little fun

So my anti-vax friend confirms he has covid. He says he lost his sense of smell Friday. And that the last couple of days have sucked as he feels like he has the flu. Since he is a friend, I told him I hope he feels better soon. I guess I don’t think its right to rag on him when he’s not feeling well, but goddamn. I just don’t get it. I mean, I really, really don’t understand it. I so underestimate Facebook (which I never use) and the propaganda network just completely brainwashing people who I think deep down are relatively normal. And I so wish I could fix it.

The capacity for humans to believe batshit crazy things is unlimited. It’s a wonder the human race has made it this far.

I feel like if he’s your friend, it’s probably easier to rub it in. That’s what I’d do, at least until he is hospitalized. I’d probably back off at that point. Probably.

When he recovers tell him he didn’t only lose his sense of smell, he lost all his sense a long time ago.

Can somebody explain to me why deaths are falling while cases are rising in Florida?

Don’t know, but will guess that its because elderly population here is largely vaccinated while younger population is not, but the younger ones survive better.

Most likely it’s a lag in reporting of deaths. We used to see this all the time in earlier waves. It could be possible Florida fuckery with data or a decoupling of cases from deaths due to vaccines. I think lag is far more likely than anything else.

I remember years ago, people would report that Disney wouldn’t let anyone sign a death certificate on their grounds so that “nobody ever dies at Disneyland” Any chance that Desantis is just kicking the bodies over to Alabama?

I suppose that’s possible too, but given what I’ve heard about hospital situations in Florida it seems less likely.

Arn article was posted here that a couple weeks ago, FL changed reporting so that deaths are reported the day the person died, not when the info was received. This means only a percentage of recent deaths they hear about get thrown into the recent numbers.

If the pandemic teaches y’all one thing about politics, it’s that people can’t be trusted to make their own decisions.

You probably should get tested again soon in case you contracted it while waiting in line.

The Trumpkins have been sharing this on FB and are slapping themselves on their backs for being so clever.

Nuke Facebook from orbit. Yesterday.

That phony anecdote is completely untelligible. It’s nothing more than word salad.

I cannot figure out how a person would look at that and go, “Oh sick burn!” or something like that.

Here’s what the outcome should be:

Host: Can I see your vaccination cards?
Idiot: Can we see Tom’s vaccination card?
Host: I’m afraid we don’t do that. We check all of our employees and if that is not good enough for you, then you should go elsewhere.
Idiot: I’d like to speak with the manager.
Host: I’m sorry, that wasn’t one of the options. You can show us your card or you can leave.

Freedom to kill people with COVID but god forbid someone serves your Applebee’s hamburger while high.
