Another bowling bud of mine has contracted covid. He describes his symptoms as nasty cough, mild fever, chills, really tired, headaches and body aches. Ironically I had urged him to get a vaccine just a few days before he told me he caught it. Heās like 37. Not obviously anti-vax, pretty liberal actually. I just think some of these younger folks in particular think the whole thing is overblown and not that serious. Yet, theyāve lived long enough to know that weāve never seen anything like this in our lifetimes, and the whole world isnāt just shutting down their economies for the fuck of it. I guess I donāt really get it.

Tribalism is a helluva drug. I mean, conservative opinion these days is that liberals donāt count as fully human, and to a certain extent, social ostracism is a greater consequence than most will face from getting covid.
