I do have a card that I need to turn in for the second shot. Maybe they let me keep it.
I’ll take a picture of it nonetheless. After I put it in a very special spot that I’ll never be able to remember in 3 weeks of course.
Some countries in South America require Yellow Fever vaccination - which is basically impossible to find. I saw tons of travelers who said they just forged it. But for covid they may be more strict.
Sounds good. You could loan it to your friends if they need to take a flight to Australia or NZ.
In the EU, it is the countries that you return to (home) that require you to take the vaccine prior to travel. Are the South Amercians really worried about US travellers introducing yellow fever to the continent? Or are these guys forging paperwork S America doesn’t care about for entry but is needed to return to US?
Phrased another way, every Brit has a rabies jab and that not becuase the island has rabies. It’s so we don’t bring it back with us. Covid’s a little different if you could take it with you an you only have an appointment card as ‘proof’.
i realize there’s still a period after jabbing. i’d still be isolating with someone who is also isolating. not having to come back for the shot is huge though.
40k vs 30k is negligible in terms of statistical confidence with half-decent sampling, but in practice it means data collected from/covered more different communities, each with unique social features. i trust both, but i like jj data a tiny bit more
I swear Churchill every other day you decide to just make a stand on something completely wrong. The rate of fall in cases is down, and that’s concerning obviously, but hospitalizations and deaths are way down.
Unfortunately I think we’re going to get a fourth wave. I think death/hospitalizations won’t be as bad though. Please note this is a wild ass guess.
It’s especially bad if you live in L.A. and understand where they are during this scene. He drives west then takes off to the east from the Santa Monica airport, then dodges the falling 10/405 interchange (the only major interchange on the westside so he had to work to get there) then he’s flying northeast on Hollywood Blvd for a random minute before beelining it back southeast towards downtown L.A. just to dodge the tiny pocket of the tallest buildings in the city. I probably get the most annoyed at this scene b/c I live in downtown and my apartment is one of the ones they show falling over. My mother cried at the trailer and begged me to move. Thanks a lot, John Cusack.
Interesting that the CDC hasn’t put out guidance yet on the behavior of fully vaccinated people. Is it because there are too many cooks in the kitchen? Or maybe too few who want to take responsibility for whatever the guidance turns out to be? Regardless, with faith in science running low among certain segments of the population, they don’t seem to be helping themselves by holding back on this information.
Meantime, the logistics of the vaccine program here in Florida seem bad still. Only 65+, health care workers, or people with doctor’s notes can sign up for appointments, and those appointments are snatched up in a heartbeat. I know its supposed to be getting better, but day in, day out, its not getting better.
