Mentally troubled young man with access to guns doesnāt fit their narrative as well as what they wished it had been, a radical leftist that hates freedom. Addressing the circumstances that led to the attempt might (gasp) mean addressing mental health concerns and cutting back gun rights.

He is so fundamentally broken but is a good enough bullshit artist that he can seem like a charismatic and smart billionaire or whatever to a decent chunk of people. But when it comes to the concept of sacrificing your life for something greater, or just mortality in general, he just canāt bullshit his way through that one for some reason. Instead it comes out as āsuckers and losersā and him taking thumbs up smile photos at Arlington.
Itās also probably why the assassination attempt apparently fucked him up as it did. Heās so used to having everything handed to him on a silver fucking platter that he probably does think heās immortal to some extent. For the first time in his life he came inches away from death and he realized that all of daddies money, the secret service, and hordes of his supporters, couldnāt do shit about it. It was just a slight fateful head turn that prevented his head from getting blown off on national TV. When he does die itās quite clear he will not go gracefully.
