The part that sucks about NIL/transfer portal is the days of a khalil mack staying at buffalo for 4 years are long over. Even if you find someone overlooked by everyone else you still only get 2 years at most. No point in developing players that are gone soon anyway. It was hard enough before but even worse for the group of 5 now when your best non seniors are getting poached every year.

Yeah I think in the aggregate it has made the top level more parity filled but hollowed out the middle class.
Teams like Alabama and Georgia are no longer stockpiling 3-deeps of 4 and 5* recruits because those guys can be offered more money elsewhere.
It also means that any team outside the top 12 to 15 has to re-recruit their roster into every offseason

Next step is to drop the NIL charade and have teams just pay players. Also multi-year contracts, options, etc.
It’s good for the players, and they’re the one’s with their bodies on the line, so it should be good for them first and foremost. It sucks for fans like us who need their school to catch lightning in a bottle once a decade or so to be competitive. It’s much less likely to be able to develop talent from lesser recruits and then have that player go un-poached prior to a strong senior campaign.

Yeah I think the hope is that you have some sort of guarantees for the players. Currently there is no real enforcement mechanism on behalf of the players to make sure they get paid what they’re offered
Honestly even the teams inside still have to. They just have fewer failures
