College Football 2024: Hail to THE Buckeyes

4 teams with the BCS formula would have been legit. Someone on reddit made a list of what that would have looked like since the BCS inception and it was pretty strong.

It is funny that they give the #2 spot to Alabama because, ldo, Bama is one of the four best teams and then give the #4 spot to Oregon who–if you’ve watched more than one of their games–is not elite at anything with a whole less than the sum of its parts.

If Oregon had held on to beat Stanford by eight that would’ve been their second most impressive performance of the year.

Finally the pac 12 benefits from people not watching their games.

The Committee continues to be totally awful.

If you’re gonna go “Best 4 teams” you’ve gotta go Ohio State #2, Bama #3.

I personally think it’s way more fun if “Power rating” or “Neutral Field Strength” has nothing to do with it and it’s all down to resume.

Don’t need to be a prof to get worked up over this - these dudes are public employees. Living on the dole. I believe if you work at Texas for 5 years making a million you get a 6 figure pension too.

Can you link it? I can’t find it for the life of me

I agree and I’m a Bammer. If playing the games doesn’t matter then let’s stfu about SoS

Cincy has the second best win of the top 10.

committee they haven’t beaten anyone else rank them 6th

Cincy could’ve beaten 10-25 and they would’ve said the same thing.

I still think they end up with ND 4, Cincy 5 at the end of the year though. The bullshit will be A+

btw cincy only lost on a last sec FG to georgia last year so the but SEC would ldo stomp them thought isn’t applicable.

I was sure the ND win would put Cincy in the top 4. Is there any way an undefeated UND isn’t top 4? Of course not. They’re not going to screw themselves in future years by overvaluing the G5 is the takeaway I think

LOL they’re even lower than this.

That post was from at least a few years ago. I will see if I can dig it up this week.

worst part is cincy tried all the others were told lol out of conference isn’t good enough so cincy put up @ ND, @indiana (who was good last year, was returning the quarterback but went back to shit) and of course they didn’t give a shit they could’ve beaten Georgia last year instead of lost on a last second FG and the committee still wouldn’t have given a shit or hell this year

Cinci over ND wasn’t a fluke either. Dominated the play.

Just rigged.

Cincinnati scheduled Indiana when they were 1-7 in the big ten in 2014. Not a valid way of looking at things. Schedules are made ridiculously far out

I know that but the list of teams who would schedule them OOC can’t be long.

Cincinnati has played Michigan (2017), Ohio state (2019), UCLA (2019/18). They follow a pretty standard G5 schedule of 1 reach game, 1 middle tier p5 and two trash teams like UConn.

Cincinnati as some sort of respected program to be feared is very new, and not yet affecting the schedule they’re playing. Otherwise ND wouldn’t be playing them.

I don’t object to Cincinnati having a claim to a playoff spot, but I do object that scheduling Indiana, who is typically terrible and was terrible when scheduled is something to be impressed by

The problem is that when you are the hot G5 team no one wants to schedule you, and certainly not at short notice. Takes two to tango. The UC, UCFs of the world can’t just pick their schedules years in advance on the hope they have a great team.

GA needs to drive a steak into Bama. BiG is only getting one spot.

Four teams is the problem. I like 12.

Srs question: what would the line be on Oklahoma-Oregon on a neutral field? Oklahoma-MSU?

Maybe, but that’s not affecting Cincinnati here.

My point is that they’d have had to do it years ago and not many would agree to schedule them.
