Rematches should never happen in a single CFB season barring extraordinary circumstances like a Heisman-caliber QB being out. You got your shot and lost, and now getting another shot is necessarily going to be at someone elseâs expense in a sport that has way more teams than games played / slots available. Itâs even more ridiculous given that football scheming & game planning is a bit rock-paper-scissors, and you have to commit to a strategy in advance to some degree. Trying that strategy, getting blown the fuck out, and then being able to revise it in a do-over that âcounts for realsies this timeâ is a preposterous advantage and privilege given how few teams get into the playoff.
I agree that given the number of teams and limited number of games, rematches make little sense.
College Football should just go to 8 conferences of 10 teams.
All Conferences can play a true Round Robin of 9 games, all Conference winners go to an 8 team playoff. No Conference Championship games, figure out whatever tiebreaker procedures you want. Do it in whatever manner best suits your region. Big Ten can have a Pie eating Contest, SEC can do a weekend-long Bass fishing competition.
The playoff going to 12 teams is terrible. The people in charge of this sport are the absolute worst.
But think about if you beat Ohio State TWICE in one season?
These money grubbing whores are not going to be able to resist Georgia / Ohio State.
Yup. OSU #5.
Not first time TCU has been screwed. Theyâre used to it. No worries.
They should be behind the 1 loss P5 conferences winners and the undefeated teams
Whoâs ahead of OSU?
Clempson. Bama. LSU?
OSU was one play away from being down 3 in the fourth Q without their best two RB and best WR
All the 12-0 should be in regardless what happens this week and and then USC or OSU if the Trojans choke.
Agree the 12 team playoff is pretty dumb.

(format is better if you just go to the tweet.
I canât see how theyâd pick TCU if they lose over OSU.
Harbaugh doing harbaugh things:
Sainristilâs play on defense this season may have been a revelation, but his leadership hasnât.
âHeâs got that dawg in him,â linebacker Michael Barrett said, interrupting Harbaughâs description of Sainristilâs best attributes.
Harbaugh concurred: âDawg? Disciplined Athlete With Grit. He does have that âdawgâ in him, no doubt about it.â
A formula-based system that selects anything from 2 to 6 teams, with pre-determined formats for each scenario, would be interesting.
ie, the 6 best-ranked teams within the top 10 with the same or fewer number of losses as the #1 ranked team are automatically in the playoffsâas of right now there are only three such teams, and if there are not two such teams then #1 and #2 play each other
But honestly both the BCS and 4-team playoffs are pretty good formats. Thereâs still a ton of interest in bizarre upsets across the sport which is what makes it so fun.
6-team playoff with byes for the top 2 is pretty good. 12-team is an abominationâhalf the top 25 getting in is just awful, ruins the regular season.
UW fans freaking out over being ranked a spot behind Utah, which is both entirely reasonable and completely inconsequential, after spending the past two weeks insisting that weâre back to the early '90s and UW is a big boy program again is so fucking perfect.
Booooooooooooo

It really is a shame.
The beauty of college football is that ruining your rivalâs season is a very worthwhile thing to play for and often all that is left at the end of the year. Does Auburn or Michigan give a shit about going 8-4 vs 9-3? No. They care about ruining Alabama or Ohio Stateâs chance at a national title.
This just absolutely nukes the regular season for the power programs. Ohio State could have played every game with sneakers instead of cleats and gone 10-2 and would still get in the playoffs.
Playoff gets a lot of shit but having 4 this year is good so that TCU doesnât get fucked.
Also not convinced the regular season wonât mean a ton at all. Maybe but I doubt it.
12 is a lot. and obv the regular season is much worse. but this is gonna make for a couple great weekends of football.
the first sec school to have to play in the snow is gonna be greatâŚ
oklahoma and/or texas coulda basically had a free, seasonal pass to the playoffâŚ
