College Basketball 2022-23 Season Thread

Poor Beavs.

Bill Walton calling the Iowa State-UConn game is giving me a headache.

Is he always this awful?

Yes, he’s completely insufferable.

He’s entertaining for Pac 12 games between two teams fighting for an NIT bid. He shouldn’t be calling big national games.

Bill Walton GOAT

But agree he should be on games of low consequence, so the PAC-12 is perfect for him.

In an unbelievably stupid move Michigan and Kentucky are playing tomorrow in London at 1 PM EST…I love the idea except for the one small problem…

England is playing in the world cup at 2 PM EST…

It’s weird that ESPN.com isn’t bothering to update its men’s basketball page with new stories. The top story is from three days ago. Only one of the ā€œtop headlinesā€ on the right side is more recent than two days ago and some go back a week. ā€œNCAAMā€ isn’t even on the main menu bar, while ā€œMLBā€ still is.

That is odd. I haven’t heard/read about any further staff reductions to account for it. The women’s page is outdate as well and is missing any mention of the UConn/ND game today, which is on ABC. Normally they blast coverage of that, especially when it’s on network.

They are all World Cup wagering degens. No time to actually work.

Added some solid volume on UCONN to title +1800.

They’ve looked dominant all year, Sanogo is one of the best bigs in the country, and their conference competition is low enough that they are unlikely to drop below a 2 or 3 seed if they stay healthy.

Really rooting for you to cash this one.

One of my buddies who was a starter on one of the teams to win a title went to an open preseason practice in October. He immediately reported back that the BE was theirs to lose. I had tried to temper my expectations but they’ve looked fantastic in every game this year.

Sanogo is obv their most important player and looks player of the year worthy. I was initially concerned that if he got into foul trouble they’d be lacking in size but the hometown kid Clingan has proven he belongs out there even if there is some expected awkwardness of an 18 year old 7 footer. They also have shooters and play great defense. Plus Jackson who has one of the worst shots I’ve seen but may be the most athletic player in the program’s history outside of Rudy Gay (who is still playing in the NBA I read recently!).

Yeah Clingan giving them solid minutes is huge because it allows Sanogo to play full effort for the 23-26 minutes he gets.

I didn’t think it would be possible for Louisville to have a season where I could feel just a little sorry for them.

Maybe it’s because Louisville’s coach is a former UK assistant. But I mean good god, Louisville is now 0-9. Not just that Louisville is 0-9 against the spread. Not just that, the closest they have gotten is 7 points. I mean they just lost to a 1-9 team by 22.

Nah who am I kidding.

I find it very amusing that the last two winless teams in all of Division I are both major conference schools with at least one national title in their history.

Yes I’m quoting myself and yes they were playing Kenpom #353 but the game is real.
