better or worse than google translate?

I couldn’t code my way out of a paper bag but I just had ChatGPT 5 vibe code the idea I’ve had for ages for a Japanese kanji learning app. It works! A demo at least.

Mind blown.

The same, it just does it all in one step (ie parses the image too). idk maybe google translate does that too. this is the first time I’ve needed this capability.

what framework? how are you running it?

This is the sort of thing Vibe Coding is for. There’s a little learning curve for a layperson to get a development environment set up and the prompting is more expensive.

There’s different models to use, different development environments but once you get set up you prompt it like a chatbot and it writes or revises code based on what you ask.

The main tools I’m aware of are Anthropic’s Claude, Google’s Gemini, and VSCode with a plugin called CLine which can then

lol. I hate their drive thru ai. The few times I have used it it’s creeped me out.

I’m so clueless about coding that I have no idea. It’s just a demo right now and it operates in Canvas.

But just the fact that I could make the thing I had in my mind by simply telling it what I wanted, and it did it pretty much as I envisioned, is mind blowing to me.

More quality software testing in action…

So the battle against AI is being waged by teen pranksters at a Taco Bell drivethru.

When they ordered 1800 waters did the Taco Bell burst into flames?

It probably added 1800 items to the automated order system and no one there had the manager’s code to clear it out so they had to hit a button 1800 times to clear it for the next guy who, I’m hoping, wanted 2300 ketchup packets with his small fries.

Fucking Krispy Kreme has one of these. It is slow to respond and if you take a pause in between words it fucks it all up.

And the capper, once you get to the window they ask what your order was and if you need anything else. If they are going to do that anyway whats the point of the robot?

According to this the average US rate is now $0.19/kWh. Our current rate in Utah is still at $0.14/kWh but going up soon and the data centers are coming. Rocky Mountain Power is going apeshit they only got a quarter of the rate increase they wanted this year; appealing to state SC. I didn’t run my AC at all this summer and the way things are going, might not ever again.

Estimated time before prompts for turning off said controls are available by asking ChapGPT is about 20 minutes.
