american media: the nation of china is not controlled by its military industrial complex (that’s bad)
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/10/opinion/china-ai-ev-trump.html
After a visit, Ford’s chief executive, Jim Farley, last summer pronounced China’s in-vehicle technology “far superior” to American models’ and described Chinese progress as “the most humbling thing I’ve ever seen.”
…
Just a few years ago, China was still licensing many of its pharmaceuticals from companies overseas. Now it licenses more drugs to other countries than it licenses from them, and it has surpassed the United States in its number of clinical trials.
The structure certainly costs more than the solar panels.
It doesn’t look like that’s floating.
I think it is this one. There are more.
From that article
“CHN said the project spans an area of around 1,223 hectares and features 2,934 solar PV platforms installed using large-scale offshore steel truss platform fixed pile foundations.”
Fixed pile foundations doesn’t sound like floating.
This is a floating array
There’s no way this thing is floating. There are posts it’s on. Those posts are not mounted on underwater pontoons or something like that.
Agree that it doesn’t look like it is actually floating the way I would use that word.
neat stuff, in america the government’s environmental protection agency has been legally prohibited from protecting the environment
The 11 largest photovoltaic projects in the world are in China. Then you have projects in India, UAE, more in China, Egypt, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, more in China and India before you get to the largest project in the USA.
right. china is already leading the world. it’s surreal.
China added 315 gigawatts of solar last year, more than the rest of the world combined. More than the USA has installed total - ever. EU has installed 406GW - total - ever.
maybe china being the world’s #1 is a good thing. when the alternative is israel and america and our roving band of child raping vampires.
i’m pretty sure we’ve been served a large plate of propaganda on china. they’re horrible, but they’re at least forward-thinking horrible.
i’d bet if there was a way to compare the lives of people with the median income in both, the chinese people are better off. and it’s only a matter of time before we lose the rights that allow us to feel superior to the median chinese man or woman.
I’m sure China’s elites are out there molesting kids as well. Rich people with total impunity are the problem.
yeah i guess.
i haven’t been having the best couple weeks. i’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around what is going on in the world and my complete inability to do anything about it.
i’m probably just trying to find something to hang onto.
You don’t have to fix everything, just improve something.
China does some innovative stuff, but infrastructure projects and the cool stuff you see in the nice parts of T1 cities are not a very accurate reflection of how things are for the median Chinese person. A median American has it much better imo
They’re running concentration camps still aren’t they?
