Yeah fuck Kramnik
In the world of bridge you are pretty much equally outcast if you falsely accuse a cheater than being a cheater. That sounds harsh, but fuck careers on the line either way

A true moron. If you need evidence that chess ability does not imply general intelligence, Kramnik is Exhibit A
I think we can get the black pawn to g3 there with several captures. Blacks last move could be g2, I think.
ahh, that was a great hint, i figured it out after about 45 minutes. will let some other people look at it before answering
its important to think about specifically which pieces the pawns would have needed to capture in order to reach that square
Iām familiar with bridge (Iām a pretty good player, one of my best friends is an expert). Cheating is a big problem in both games (although itās a problem at amateur level in chess and only in expert level at bridge). Easier to out cheaters statistically in bridge though. There is only so good you can be at 50/50s.
Jesus Christ.
I did think about it, but I made a mistake when I did it.
Edit: I can imagine a scenario where white promotes to a piece that the black pawn can kill to get there. Maybe thatās it.

which pawn and which square were you envisioning the promotion happening on?
it gets tricky because black is not allowed to move the king or the rook, so to get the pawn to a promotion square you have to start capturing even more black pieces.
I didnāt think about that part very much yet. I was planning to go back to it at some point. Black would have to promote (probably to a knight) at b8 or c8, but Iām not actually sure if that would work. Need to check.

Oh fuck.
Donāt usually feel anything when someone I donāt really know passes, but Iām actually shook by this.
Hikaru is doing a memorial stream. Apparently Bortnyk found him when he went to check on him
People just got the news in the chat for the US Championships. His wikipedia page was just updated. I donāt follow chess closely and barely knew who he was but this is sad news. He wasnāt even 30.
Yeah this hurts. I am one of the āQueens Gambit Generationā players that started playing in 2020. I am not amazing at chess but itās definitely a passion for me now and Danya was a key resource in getting me interested in chess and in getting me up to around 1000 on chesscom so I could at least have some basic skills to build on. Iām going to enjoy a lifetime of chess, in part because of him, and Iām sure thereās plenty of others in the same situation.
Iām in the middle of watching one of his speedruns, just feels unreal that heās gone.
Yeah, those are the main reasons
. He didnāt even get kicked out of commentating. It was his choice.

Daniel was by far the best commentator, anytime there was a major tournament i would always tune in to his streams with Robert Hess because they were much better than the mainstream commentary
