Agreed. Let’s ban SUVs.
I can’t believe SUVs are still a thing in 2020. Like seriously, wat.
Toyota did have the Prius v Wagon, which they discontinued after they came out with the hybrid Rav4 and its sales declined. I think wagons aren’t considered enough by people who want something bigger than a regular sedan.
<3 wagons but that ain’t the answer when 40% of USA#1 automobile sales are crossovers. One thing that’s kind of crazy is how many wagon models used to exist versus how many exist now (very few it seems).
Like LFS said Leasehackr is a great source of info for leasing. I’d never done a lease but my wife and and I both drive very little (like 6-8k miles a year) so when we wanted a new car we decided to try it out and that place really helped me understand the process. I think I’ll stick to leasing going forward, you have minimal out of pocket costs and you can drive premium/luxury brands without having to worry about obscene maintenance bills.
I don’t think I’ve articulated my point in bringing up straw bans. It’s not that I think everyone driving a Prius would have zero impact, it’s that the framing is bullshit. We’re focusing on consumers who are forced into Sophie’s choice between the environment and their immediate personal best interest in a completely rigged system created by the crooks who are, collectively, the Michael Jordan of planet destroyers. That’s policy failure.
Is now a bad time to tell you that the Porsche 911 has been named the most reliable car by J.D. Power and Associates?
Do you want me to get stabbed for my ride? lol at driving a godamn Porsche in the Rust Belt.
Goons will come up outta the cut for my goods and they all should.
I thought that’s why they put gates around communities. I honestly think you should double down, get the 911 with a vanity plate that reads NVR4GET. Besides, don’t Ohio deplorables idolize the rich?
lol, I drove a ten year old car with 150,000 miles on it, do you really think I’m living in a gated community? If I get a Porsche, the windows are gonna get smashed every other month, and I really couldn’t blame anyone for coming at my shit.
Look at this racist all afraid of minorities.
It’s mostly opioid-addled white dudes I’m scared of tbqh. Every time I see the crime notes in my paper it’s skeletal white dudes with face tattoos robbing people and stabbing them.
Nice sequence of posts there, lads. Would read again.
I think your fears are slightly misplaced in this postmodern technological Mad Max world we live in. It’s far more likely you would be aggressed not by violent thugs but by derisive millennials posting shots of your desperation and financial illiteracy on Twitter. Then again I’ve never been addicted to crystal meth and could be entirely wrong about this.
I’ve never really understood the kid argument for SUVs. I can fit just about as much in my sedan and have the same amount of seating as most SUVs (or at least most of the SUVs that people buy claiming that they need more room for kids and their stuff). I guess in some SUVs you give you a 3rd row option, but in that case you’re eliminating most of the storage space.
I feel like if you really want something bigger for kids and stuff, minivan is the answer. Not exactly fun to drive around though.
Model Y comes out this year!
My wife’s 2017 Subaru Crosstrek lease is about to expire on April 1st. Thinking of purchasing it for the residual value of $16k. It’s a great car and we like it. Truecar gave me a cash estimate of $14.5k to $16.8k, while the other sites hovered around 17k private party. She had a minor $1500 value accident on it that was just cosmetic. My thought was to just purchase it and then I would take it over and drive it to the ground. Currently driving an 09 Honda Civic to only work and back. Thoughts?
My feeling is that cars are a utility and worrying about getting every last cent out of them is just unnecessary stress. Seems like you should just buy it if you like it and can afford it, that’s what we did with our last lease and we have been nothing but happy with the car.
From an equity standpoint, I think you are almost certainly better off turning it in. With the collision, you got more depreciation than you paid for. Like, I’m assuming there was no diminished value claim and subsequent adjustment of the residual value. Could you maybe take it somewhere like CarMax and see what they’d offer?
