They should have the ability to create customizable layouts.
Buddy of mine called me saying “Oil lights showed up on my dash, I don’t know what to do. Something about low oil warning. I checked the oil and it seems ok.”, so I tell him do NOT start the car until I get there, it’s possibly something wrong with the oil pump, and you could damage your engine running it, but in the meantime call the dealership and see what they have to say. He calls me when I’m en-route and tells me, “I talked to the dealership. They said that Subaru engines don’t have an oil pump, and that I should drive it in right now before they close.”
I assure my buddy that Subaru engines definitely do have oil pumps unless they use that new oil teleportation technology, and he agrees to await my arrival. I get there, and find his engine is 3 litres low (!) on oil somehow. WTF Subaru? That was some super terrible advice. I’m sure if he’d blown his engine while driving it to the dealership they wouldn’t honor any kind of warranty on it.
Shady and stupid.
My dad took a KIA Niro full-electric to the dealer for a regular servicing at 30,000 miles—it should be tire rotation only, and cost around $40.
The service department came back with a $600 quote. There was an itemized list that included radiator fluid change, spark plugs, etc.
He said, this is an EV. It doesn’t have any of that crap. They said they’ll go talk to the service manager.
Came back and said “we’ll take $100 off the quote.”
He obviously went to another dealer.
He should have the electronics looked at too, if it waited until he was 3 qts low before turning on the indicator light…
I’ve had good service at my local dealer. They’ve even recommended going elsewhere for non-OEM parts when the price difference was significant.
That is a shady as fuck dealer. If your dad is motivated It’d be worth reporting them to KIA corporate.
There aren’t many 0% loans these days, but if you could get one on a vehicle you like it would probably feel really good. Nothing else to add, just something I thought about on a dog walk.
Just sold our Ford Maverick and bought a CPO Mini Cooper S in British racing green with pano roof and upgraded audio.
Most fun I’ve ever had driving an automobile. I’ve been getting up at 5am just to have coffee and go driving.
Stick?
My in-laws had a manual mini cooper that was a blast driving around some hills and lakes.
No, the 7 speed DCT, and it’s very quick shifting. I couldn’t miss the MT less. I also have an '06 Acura TSX that’s manual, and it’s honestly turned into a dog car. As I get older, my desire for 3 pedals has seriously waned. Here’s my wife in it when we took delivery.
The modern 7-speed autos are pretty great. My wifes is making me rethink my affinity for stick.
I still like doing it myself tho’.
anyone have any PHEV models to recommend?
Seriously considering a PHEV SUV. we do some car camping / long trips, and 40 mi electric-only range is making me think in town trips will become more or less guilt-free. the other option is keeping a non-hybrid crossover and getting an electric for local trips, but two cars seems like a huge hassle.
I’ve had a RAV4 Prime for about a year and a half and have no complaints. Only time I use gas is on road trips.
I have heard good things about that vehicle and it’s lexus equivalent. This channel reviews tons of vehicles and liked it (couple of years ago) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--5WvixP_Pw&t=862s
test drove it today, and liked it. unfortunately there’s only a single trim level that’s available, and features i was hoping for have months waiting list.
I had the same problem. I could have had the se, but wanted the xse. I ended up having to wait almost a year.
Picked up a 2020 Chevy Bolt with 9k miles a couple of weeks back. Loving it so far. Obviously not the best for 10-hour road trips, but it’s an amazing commuter. It’s hard to overstate how much I prefer the EV vs. ICE experience in general.
It’s so difficult to explain this to anyone who hasn’t driven an EV. Driving and owning experience is just so much better in pretty much every way.
