I don’t know anything about Ruth, but the real question is what is going to take Sue to the other thread? I’d be surprised, except by now I’ve learned never to be surprised.

Ugh. I knew Evan a little years ago and my wife knew him pretty well, but neither of us have had contact with him in a while. He was friends with David Foster Wallace, of whom I was/am a big fan, and told me a bit about him. At that point of my life he and I had a shared darkness. I am so grateful that I was taken down a different path and very sad to hear it sounds like he stayed on it.
