Biden thread III: Still Robinette after all these years

Yeah. People who receive SSI must agree to have their bank accounts monitored by the government.

Getting help with rent, or cash gifts, must be reported and will reduce your benefits (max of which is already under 1k lol). Failure to report constitutes fraud.

So we know they can do this for politicians if they choose.

Anyway, the proposed new rules do not go so far as to allow help with rent. Just food.

I thought this was an onion post not going to lie.

Iā€™m conflicted. On the one hand, I think biden and his people are doing a very solid job, especially on foreign policy and judges. On the other hand, yeah.

SSI rules are fucking insane. They literally lock you in to perpetual poverty and punish you if you try to better your financial situation. You canā€™t ever have more than $2k in assets if you are on SSI. The rules actually require you to stay poor forever.

I was eligible for SSDI briefly after college. One month I got the auto deposit of like $442 or whatever it was on the 31st, and that put my account at $2,078. I then immediately paid a student loan payment for $800. On the 1st they (SSDI) check your account balance, and that happened before the loan payment had been processed and deducted. So SSDI saw I had over $2k, immediately cut me off, and sent a letter saying I had to pay back the last payment and a penalty fee or some such horseshit. I went to the office and fought it in person, with all my printed out statements and documentation, purely out of principle. I withdrew from the program that day because the hassle, fear of penalty, and forced poverty was not at all worth the $442/month. Not to mention all of the phone and in person interviews you have to do somewhat regularly where they make you feel like a criminal for seeking help you are eligible for.

Meh, apparently thereā€™s some dumb stuff in the bill, but donā€™t know enough to have a side the this.

What? Itā€™s a path to statehood and two free Democratic senators, itā€™s basic American voting rights and self-governance stuff, what more do you need to know? And Biden is shooting it down because of carjackings?

And the carjacking victims arenā€™t even Bidenā€™s constituents because THEY CANā€™T VOTE WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU STUPID OLD MAN

This feels like a situation where you keep Mayor Bowser and the Congressional Democrats who voted for this happy so that they are more willing to vote their party on a bill that affects more than just DC.

Fuck off, Biden.
