Biden thread III: Still Robinette after all these years

I imagine following the US election from afar is like watching one of those Jackass movies but it’s hard to say with confidence because I’ve never actually seen one.

The more I think about it, what an incredible final own goal by the Dems. All you will hear about for the next 7 days is Biden’s comment.

ETA: I do think it’s clear that what Biden meant to call garbage was “his supporter’s demonization of Latinos”, but his stutter plus mental decline got in the way of smoothly saying the sentence. And they’re going to pay a price for it now in the media.

I told y’all. Trump is winning this.

Hi, it’s me, the 25th Amendment Bot, here to remind everyone once again that, if the president is physically able to write “I’m fine lol” in a letter, impeachment is an easier standard of removal from office.

It’s this election cycle’s “basket of deplorables” moment.

Yes it’s true. But no need to say the quiet part out loud.

this is why we can’t have nice things.

His supporters are garbage.

Trump was always winning anyway. Might as well speak some truth on the way to the dictatorship.

I hope I’m wrong but don’t think so.

Did he threaten to use the military to round them up? Then I’m not worried about what Trump supporters are called.

We get it. Trump is terrible and a bad candidate. That is not at all the issue here. Biden just screwed up the whole news cycle for the week before Election Day. He’ll probably be featured in ads starting today. You can be on team “nothing matters”, and that’s fine, but if anything does matter, this would be high on the list.

I don’t think anyone that listens to a typical Trump speech and the rhetoric he uses to describe the left is going to rush to their fainting couch because of this gaff. Particularly because it gives more life to the Puerto Rico is garbage line. I’m just not seeing this as the straw that is going to break any backs.

It wont break anything, it just essentially stops a pretty large negative news cycle that was occurring because of MSG. I get it, old man with a stutter, but its still an error, and an unneccessary one, less thab a week before election day

Stop bed wetting. The other guy is literally saying he’s going to throw people in jail. Absolutely no one actually gives a fuck. And honestly the energy is great. Enough coddling the feelings of fucking nazis, maybe this helps energize the base.

I honestly think it’s pretty crazy to think that this is going to “breathe more life” into the Puerto Rico comments. Like maybe in the world of MSNBC first analysts doing backflips to talk about Biden’s comments. But in the general mediasphere, what will happen and is already happening is it has completely drowned out the rally comments and is 100% “Biden called Trump supporters garbage”.

I think what clearly happened is that Biden’s stutter and diminished faculties got in the way of his saying “what’s garbage is his supporter’s demonization if Latinos”. Unfortunately that’s too nuanced to cut through in today’s world vs. “Biden called half the country garbage”.

Yeah I don’t see this motivating/demotivating a specific group of votes the way the Puerto Rico comments do.

I guess the only thing we know for sure is we will never know if any of this stuff matters.

Lots this. Trump and buddies are gleefully shooting themselves in the dick right before the election. ….So Joe jumps out to give the media something else to focus on. fml :person_facepalming:

It’s not coddling the feelings of nazis. It’s the media focus on shiny objects. Joe just gave them a new shiny object to switch to.

We came insanely close to that scenario.

I’ve barely seen anything about what Biden said in my Twitter feed, whereas I’m still seeing the Puerto Rico stuff constantly. I know my feed leans hard lib, but my gut says that if it was a huge deal outside the MAGAsphere, it would have already permeated the bubble.

The CNN crawl at the top of the hour was about it (although their website is definitely trying to bury it) and CBS morning show just had Walz on and first 3 questions were about Biden’s comments.

The simplest way I’d put it is this, and I’ll try and get off the topic.

If you legitimately think nothing matters, then that’s fine, I respect that position, and who cares what he said.

If you have been posting for months about election news, tracking polls, trying to identify the exact number of Puerto Ricans in Pennsylvania, quoting post-debate polls, asking when the best time to drop a damning Trump video would be, etc. etc., then it strikes me as some wild rationalization to say that “Biden calls Trump supporters garbage” being out there doesn’t affect anybody.
