Bailout / Stimulus Discussion (Hints Missed & Shartz Fired)

I rent a 3BR house with an office in a pretty nice subdivision for 1750 a month lol. I rent because I absolutely did not buy that the real estate market was any good, although I was planning to buy in March of next year, so at least I’m not going to be underwater on a mortgage.

5T seems like a potentially reasonable figure for this. Money is fake 🤷

To the surprise of nobody.

It also doesn’t help that every major city in the us decided to put a cap on population density and a freeze on transportation infrastructure 30-40 years ago. Hopefully this event shows all the lies the capitalist class has been telling for decades are absurd and better things are possible. We don’t need to make large swaths of land solely single family homes.

In reality it’s just going to cause an unthinkable amount of suffering and the only thing anyone is going to learn is that it’s everyone for themselves.

They’ll get something. My biggest concern is that they’ll say thank you for the crumbs

They’re going to cave. They don’t care.

Seriously if the Democrats cave here I’m done. Really truly done. I’ll either join the GOP or start my own political party. Better chance of doing good by changing the GOP from within or becoming a third party activist if they can’t win in this spot.

They have the GOP by the balls. Truly. The GOP has absolutely no leverage and owns this thing totally. The Democrats should be naming their terms and simply repeating them over and over again loudly and publicly until the GOP gives them what they want. Those terms should be reasonable, but those terms shouldn’t be negotiable.

The standard corporate ideology has been fucked up since the 80s if not earlier and you hit so many of the nails on the head here.

When I still worked a business job, I left a corporate job working for a Fortune 500 company to be the Operations Manager (essentially next I command after the owners) for a friends business. The things I convinced them to change were to stop making decisions based on the nickels and dimes of it, but based on what provided the best experience to their customer base. And to increase their cash reserves to levels they’d never even considered before. There’s a little more to it than that but can’t get into too much more details on here.

Amazingly they were almost overnight having some of the best results they’d ever had and are in a way better position to weather this crisis as opposed to likely failing (or beat case needing emergency loans to bail them out) right now if they hadn’t made the changes I put in.

1.6 trillion is $5k for every American. And yet only 15% of this bill is going to be direct cash payments, while over 50% of this bill goes to bail out millionaires and billionaires. Great Depression 2: Guillotine Boogaloo

This is my buddy and his wife spot on. They have a $200K 4 bedroom house despite no kids. Both are restaurant managers. They have a maid, pool guy and landscaper come 2x a month. They both drive brand new $40K cars. My buddy just got laid off yesterday. What are they doing today? They went deep sea fishing which costs $100/person. They are oblivious to what’s going to happen. My buddy thinks he’s getting his job back at end of the month.

SOOOOCCCIIIIALLLLIISSSMMMMMMM

3 weeks ago it was 2 billion. 2 weeks ago 8 billion. This week 1.5 trillion

One thing you have to remember about some of those with 150K income and negative net worth… they took on A LOT of debt to get there. Huge student loans, borrowing against their student loans in order to pay for housing and neccesities during school, credit card debt for those without student loans because every penny made during college was spent on tuition.

Seems like Warren wants no part of a bad stimulus deal. I don’t know if she can get enough votes to force some changes. Would Pelosi and Schumer want to avoid a scenario where a bill passes with a minority of Democrats voting for it?

We definitely don’t need to rehash that stuff. Seems so quaint at this point. I sincerely hope she is willing to fight right now.
