Seriously, everyone knew W was stupid/incompetent from the start! That was his whole pitch to the american people! His popularity skyrocketed after 9/11 and very gradually wore off after people gradually realized how goddamn stupid the Forever Wars were.

Yes, Trump and his Administration are hopelessly stupid, and in complete lockstep with their fans. They’re fine with it. This will just bond them ever closer.
He has pillars of support that are not so stable. Authoritarians understand they’re vulnerable and they have to be hyper-vigilant to maintain their positions. Gotta chippa-way at them.

I have to disagree with this guy. The folks in the group chat may not have exactly covered themselves in glory, but if anything it shows them as way more competent then I would have imagined. Just the capacity for symbolic language alone overshoots my expectations, never mind the organizational demands of a multiparty conversation. And just think of all the journalists that weren’t accidentally invited!

Just to be clear about what this means, this person went through a full application with extensive background checks, was given formal permission to enter the country and live here, tried to do so, and was rendered to a Salvadoran mega-prison without trial for doing exactly as he was instructed
