Awful shit Trump did today (Hi Mrs.TSA agent looking at my phone)

Win win for Republicans. Get to hunt illegals and destroy trust in the government

The Internal Revenue Service is nearing an agreement to allow immigration officials to use tax data to confirm the names and addresses of people suspected of being in the country illegally, according to four people familiar with the matter, culminating weeks of negotiations over using the tax system to support President Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign.

Are undocumented immigrants filing taxes with the IRS?

well they can and are legally supposed to. IRS doesn’t tell immigration about you and that’s how it’s worked. until now

Yeah, all you are doing now is incentivizing them not to pay taxes. I’m sure that will do wonders for that deficit that you’re trying to cut.

Florida has to be in the top 3.

Why are tourists going to Texas?

Fucking hell. You know there are some dudes in there who got caught up in the wash and have nothing to do with the Venezuelan gang.

Based on my youtube algorithm, it’s to eat bbq and visit Buc-ee’s… But more generally in addition to having all of the typical reasons why someone might go somewhere, I could see how Texas might represent a sort of uniquely American experience to someone from another country. Like, if I lived in Tokyo or London a trip to New York might be fun, but I can see how Austin or Houston or Dallas might seem more unique.

a bit more than some, they never got a hearing.

it’s all about speed and efficiency, not accuracy They’ll be lucky to see the light of day again someday in the future. It’s quite the culture shock from the US to that. That’s for sure but that’s where we’re headed.

For a long time I thought the Scottish band Texas was from the state but turns out there’s no real connection. (They liked the soundtrack of the movie, Paris, Texas by Ry Cooder.) Who knows what might want to make a person visit a place. Strangely enough this song just randomly came up in my playlist while I typed out this post:

It’s mostly Mexicans visiting Texas. Mostly because it’s the closest US state. I’d guess quite a bit is visiting family, but then you also get rich Mexicans coming to Texas beaches, cities, etc.

Having nothing to do with radiation, getting phones out of schools would be very good for kids.

Was in the brewpub in Christiania (quasi-anarchist commune in Copenhagen) last fall and the bartender said he wants to go to Texas for his first trip to America for exactly that reason.

This stuff freaks me out logistically. Luckily I am very white and can pass as “nonsuspicious” but im always very nervous around armed police or at any kind of crossing like this, it brings to mind horror scenarios where things get bad and trying to flee the country and them searching all your devices and finding like, anti trump stuff or whatever you can imagine they dont like and sending you to guantanamo or something. it sounds hysterical but not really out of the realm of possibility anymore. I guess if you’re leaving the country, just back everything to cloud and bring no electronics across the border. That alone might make you suspicious though.

I know SPE went private, is this forum still public?

No reason to think this was anything Trump related but it’s wild you even have to stop and think about it.

I can see posts from an incognito window and not logged in, so I’m going with yes.

I assume that is a valid test.

Yeah, and I think it’s a bad idea
