Pretty incredible, and by that, I mean it’s literally and obviously hard to believe, that a guy who got his account anonymized due to his stated objections to how this community was being run, is somehow magically already back and participating using an account he wants us to know is him. It’s almost like we shouldn’t have taken his objections at face value.

As an aside, an Australia commentator used that the ‘g****** b******’ word yesterday for our football. On a nationally broadcast game before millions of people. I smirked when I heard it. Non story from what I can see in the media here. I even looked him up in mentions on twitter out of curiosity and nobody pointed it out. Not to say it isn’t a terrible term to use in other countries. But then that’s the point.

Do you think that the average UKer who drops c-bombs is completely unaware of the “alternative” definition? How about for the average UPer (or former UPer) who fought that battle? And do you think that the UK usage to mean “a disagreeable man” has absolutely nothing to do with that same “alternative” definition? And finally, if you insist on using a term that makes someone uncomfortable, even if it’s because they are from outside your culture, do you think that makes you an asshole?
I mean, I’d rather not go scanning through UK-sourced porn or erotica for specific citations, but I don’t think I’d have any trouble finding c-bombs. Do you think I would?

Oh, right, obviously I should be able to call white people racial slurs, because I actually mean that they’re disagreeable, and you should understand that it has no connection to another definition that I’m not using at all, because obviously I mean strictly, STRICTLY, that this white guy is an asshole, and I want to be a bit more colorful than calling him an asshole.

I know I commented on the spaz thing at the by saying my fav online radio station, WFMU.org, has a show Music to Spazz By with Dave the Spazz and I understand it’s use in another culture maybe different from mine so I’ll keep donating to them and not get unduly upset by it.
