This is the shit that cops have been sharing on FB:
Yes he did. Those meme’s are like textbook examples of everything wrong with current police culture and why it has to be fully replaced and not just reformed. Seriously look all the different things wrong with those meme’s. I’m sitting here trying to analyze it but there’s like 8 or 9 things and I just started. I could probably write a 15 page paper about the rotten heart of police culture just using those two meme’s as starter fluid. It’s actually crazy.
Agreed. Keep funding for public safety (and public health) high, and put more funds into less militaristic aspects of public safety and public health.
Did you look at the question they asked? They didn’t ask if people support defunding the police.
If they asked “should we defund the police” I bet the number is halved.
Pretty sure George’s hands were behind his back when he was murdered.
I assume we would have wound up in the exact same place as Chauvin would have still murdered him.
This was one of those where I said, “ok I need to know the whole story,” not because I was looking for reasons to blame the kids but because I knew there’d be some crazy shit behind it.
Apparently in New Jersey you need to get a license to ride a bike. Wat. How many kids would even know that shit? It’s just a built in excuse to harass undesirables.
One of those where I’m like, “Did they harass you because you’re black? Well, yes, but also no, but also, yes. Short answer yes but they Rube Goldberg this shit.”
We just need to give them more money to do more training.
Different. Also more.
Seems like an easier fix than first thought: just excommunicate Grossman and his ilk and get back to Bunny Colvin.
Could you expand on that? Curious to hear more detail on your perspective, and I think it’s an interesting point.
I can see the appeal of that logic. I don’t think that rewarding bad past behavior with more money is likely to, in and of itself, trigger better behavior in the future. Everything we know about economic systems actually tells us the opposite is true - the threat of withdrawal of funding is probably a more powerful lever than just giving more resources. I think if you gave US cops today more resources for training they would buy bigger tanks and train people how to use them.
Anyway, one example that comes to mind is Canada’s health care funding system where the federal government distributes money to (in the form of block grants) to provinces so they can administer their health care systems. But the catch is that the provinces have to comply with the federal Health Act to get the money. If the technocrats are looking for a good idea something like providing Federal funding to municipalities that agree to comply with the terms of a Federal Policing Act would be something to look at.

When I was listening to the scanners during some of the protests last year, during a 15 minute stretch a few cops on the radio thought there was 3,000 antifa coming from Indianapolis on a few buses, they had the skyway from Indiana closed and were trying to route the helicopter to look for it. It was like a comedy sketch
