You wouldn’t even need it to be that long. The goal is to stay live tho, because you’re losing ‘scoop’ if you’re not.
It’s also important to understand that if they are on site, they’re watching the action not generally monitors. When it’s remote they’re watching on monitors. I think this is easier in a remote set up with no camera control than it is there with no camera control.
The Jump Map really improves my viewing experience of figure skating.
A Jump to Conclusions Map would make it even more exciting.
open peacock app
select “ski jump normal hill” (the tile says “live”)
unskippable kelce youtube tv ad plays
“this olympic event has concluded”
go back to menu
select snowboard big air
unskippable kelce youtube tv ad plays
“this olympic event has concluded”
become the joker
seems like only thing on right now is women’s hockey and figure skating warm ups :|
what the hell
It’s 10pm or something over there right?
sounds like a them problem
We need the Winter equivalent of Beach Volleyball, the Olympic Spiritual corollary to Pac-12 After Dark
Next WO is in France so it will be the same thing. The prime viewing being from 3am-1pm thing really sucks.
See and raise.
Exit from “snowbard big air.”
Select “figure skating” (title says LIVE)
Another unskippable 15 second commercial
Joins to “This event will resume shortly” with looping background video.
Syncs up to 4 more minutes of linear TV ads.
Event resumes. It’s…a replay of the snowboard big air.
Back out, change events, repeat.
And for that reason I’m out.

Nope, but for a point of comparison, I also have a cable streaming subscription with regular NBC and all of the sister channels. The ad situation on there also bad but sort of different: every few minutes they split screen out of a LIVE FUCKING EVENT such that you’re served an ad that dwarfs the event box, and the live audio of course switches commercial. That’s in addition to also getting traditional linear TV ad breaks. This whole thing is just a giant ad trap and unwatchable.
Maybe Gold Zone is the pro play
I haven’t tried it yet but not overly excited to watch another minute of Olympics after today’s experience. Even the live coverage of the Big Air was kind of shit. They had multiple camera angle gaffes during tricks and then awkward shots and commentary when the scores hit. I kept trying to catch QUAD GOD but seems like they were overselling how “soon” he was gonna be on and eventually missed it live after infinite commercials.
The Olympics are so expensive that if they ran 10 times the ads they still wouldn’t break even. So that’s why they run 10 times more ads than they used to. I’m not really being bombarded by ads in the app, which probably means I have the premium version. It’s more like a standard broadcast for me. I’ve only seen the YouTube TV commercial once, but I think we’ll see it again tomorrow during the Super Bowl.
yeah I thought I had peacock premium but apparently not (my son’s ex-girlfriend logged in on my TV eons ago and I am logged in as “Cindy” which I thought must be the girlfriend’s mom but apparently it’s the girlfriend’s mom’s boss, idk).
Try logging in under yourself, because the girlfriend’s mom’s boss is getting played on the all commercials all the time plan.
Yeah Peacock has definitely been a little weird and glitchy but for $11 it’s still pretty awesome to be able to pull up literally whatever you want.
