You have to gain an advantage or intentionally play the puck as the 6th guy for it to be a penalty. Looks like the puck originally hit him unintentionally, but then he played it again while still the extra guy.
It’s fine, it’s like tapping the granite, it doesn’t affect the play.

What a fkn dumb penalty, still would’ve only been a 2 v 2 he was giving up.
Then USA sits around on delayed penalty instead of trying to win pick back instantly and gifts Canada 20 extra PP seconds.
Absolute travesty that this gets decided with 3x3.
