Just a call back to
Ok, yes. Clockwise from below is the same motion as counterclockwise from above. With summer coming I just changed my ceiling fan so it turns counterclockwise from below. It’s more comfy.
guy who invented the first clock was left handed and when it first came out, the clock pissed a lot of people off. but he stood firm.
*guessing this
Clockwise handfoolish
But the first clocks didn’t have hands? And no great reason they should any more. I hear tell, though I’ve never seen it myself, that kids these days can’t even tell time using analog clocks.
I guess the inventor must have got the idea for a clock face and hands from sundials. Then maybe the direction of motion from the way the shadow moves across the dial. So he was a Southern hemisphere guy?
I recall some science fiction movie where they have to defuse a bomb by turning a screw and at first they assume that means they have to turn it one way but some guy pipes up, “This is a Chinese bomb. We have right-handed screws because we read from left to right but those guys read right to left!” So they change directions and save the day. Eta Gemini says this was The Abyss but I could have sworn it was a space movie..
Anyway who knew circular motion could be so complicated.
Time
I’m a block time guy.
Chinese screws are also generally righty-tighty and it’s because more people are right handed.
How will they ever pass their cognitive assessments?
Just had a wonderful night at a Hispanic food court in Aurora Colorado and I am pleased to report that Tren de Aragua roasts a mean chicken.
James Cameron not one to let facts get in the way of telling a good story?
Good morning! This was my trick:
the longest answer is often the right one
Clockwise or counter-clockwise?
Definitely several that I got right that I didn’t know, but multiple choice certainly helped. Much different results if I had to give a definition with no help.
What’s funny is that if you take it again, it will be about 30% harder.

This happens to me too. I don’t think it’s the altitude.
He apparently cancelled a show in San Diego because he wanted to watch soccer.
My wife saw him a couple weeks ago and said he was moving around pretty well for an 81yo. I guess he’s overdoing it and the altitude could be part of it.
I think dehydration contributes in my case. Doctor didn’t have a lot to say about it, except for starting his response with, “You’re telling me…”
Currently multiple wildfires are burning in the area so the air can’t be good for 80 year-olds.
The optimistic (or at least marginally less pessimistic) gloss to put on this is that, once we recalibrate, we’re in effectively the same boat as we’ve been for most of human history, where a record purporting to reflect reality has no inherent credibility apart from its provenance.
