It is but I’m not really interested in debating it here. We’ll see in ~10 years. Doing nothing for another decade is just as bad as whatever trump will do by 2100.
Well thanks for fucking chiming in buddy
For anyone else. On the climate change thing.
There is no “we are fucked so give up option”.
It keeps getting worse and will keep getting worse until we stop burning fossil fuels. That will happen at some point. Even if it’s 8 degrees of warming.
But 7 degrees is better than 8 and 5 is better than 7.
I covered every inch of my 5th grade desk with Al Gore posters.
What the hell is this supposed to be about? Doesn’t this cartoonist know anything about the importance of LABELS?
Cynical reasons aside, is there actually a legitimate reason why tips and overtime shouldn’t be taxed? I mean, it’s income.
Who is the orange faced guy in the middel supposed to be? I’m confused.
Man this is so uninformed. I’m unsure where all the hostility is coming from either - I’m “chiming in” to say relax because it doesn’t matter.
on the climate change thing, it’s game over at three Celsius, basically so anything beyond that is pointless to talk about. Our way of life is going to be drastically different in 30 years whether you like it or not or whoever is in power promising whatever failed greenwashing things that I’ve already been tried and trumpeted as a success while we barrel into oblivion.
besides that my main issues are pretty basic. the genocide in palestine, healthcare, reproductive rights, and racial equality. I see no meaningful difference between the two campaigns, and what will actually happen. Other than one side is saying much nicer words that they don’t intend on ever following through on. What evidence do I have for that? the last 30+ years of them saying the same things and not doing anything.
I hope you’ll allow me my own opinions, I respect yours.
On the one hand it’s absolutely amazing that it looks like a roast comedian may have had a substantial impact of the future of the world. On the other hand it seems very fitting.
Lol, for 20 years I used the office bathroom and never had a problem. As soon as I started shitting in the middle of the staff lounge everyone stops talking to me and HR is on my ass. Must be getting close to the truth!
Its not even tax break. Just literally his btc positon. Hes not even hiding it
I’m happy to take this to the climate change thread if you like.
How big was your desk?
It depends on what you want to do. Giving a break to low income service workers doesn’t sound like a bad idea, most of their tip money is probably funneled back into the economy by being spent anyway. Who gets overtime? I don’t think I want some cop making 200k getting a tax break on their overtime, but I think there are segments getting overtime that could use the break. It is all in the details which is why campaign promises are so dumb.
Negreanu using ‘alpha male’ without irony in October 2024 is rough.
My brother and his family live in Henderson Nevada, just out side of Los Vegas. They are strong Catholics. I convinced them to flip their votes from Trump to Harris. The winning argument was character. “What do you think Jesus would think of Trump? He may forgive him but you should not.” I reminded them that Biden is Catholic and he picked Harris. I told them that America needs to come together and that Harris would listen to and consider opposing points of view. They agreed to vote for her. “Now talk to your friends.” I’m doing my part. I live in a deep blue state.
It seems like what you’re saying is, “These policies [no tax on tips or overtime] seem ok if they’re targeted at low-income people.”
And the obvious response to that is, “Lower the tax burden on low-income people regardless of what form their compensation takes.”
No tax on tips or overtime is incredibly stupid.
